I’m running a d&d club in my high school (I’m the teacher ) and we have luckily got a bit of funding and purchased the full works . I had thought that there might be more functionality with the adventure modules - specifically being able to click on an encounter in the module and have it run the encounter against any players in the campaign - eg as players enter klargs throne room in lmop , I could click on the title and it would set up the relevant monsters and my players in the encounter builder - making initiative and combat easier to track ? Was I misguided ? Is this something that might happen in the future ? Any thoughts or advice would be welcome . And yes I know I could individually set it up and save each encounter, but I’m a little short on time and just a little bit lazy !
I'm praying this feature comes sooner rather than later. And not just the official Modules, but also I would like to see the Random Encounters table from Xanather's treated in the same way (click on an encounter to generate it and away you go!)
That said, unfortunately this feature isn't implemented yet and probably won't be for a long while. Also regretfully the only solution is to just generate the encounter from scratch.

It's a good idea. You'd have to select who is involved in each fight, but it shouldn't be too hard to program in. Unfortunately, it's a lot of work. It would have been feasible had it been done from the start and as they went along, but doing it now would be a substantial undertaking. We might get it, but I'm not confident.

If you're not willing or able to to discuss in good faith, then don't be surprised if I don't respond, there are better things in life for me to do than humour you. This signature is that response.
Joe was asked about pre-configured encounters from modules in a recent Dev Update and thought it was a good idea, so it's something they are at least thinking about. That probably means it's only 24+ months away.
Cheers for the info - glad to hear that at least they’re thinking about it ! Do you think they’ll ever produce a viable vtt platform as part of dnd beyond ?

It would be nice if I could purchase preconfigured maps with all the monsters and tokens already placed with fog-of-war already set up. That would be super valuable for me.
That said, who knows what they're actually planning. They certainly seem to be headed in that direction. I don't doubt that they're working super hard, but the pace of progress feels so slow at times. How long have they been working on the encounter builder and combat tracker? And we still can't give monsters custom names, hide monster names from players, or easily add NPCs to encounters. But hey, DMs can now see the player's health (which I've never cared about).
Don't get me wrong, I recommend the combat tracker to anyone who will listen. But it's hard to see them adding a VTT anytime soon. But who knows.

The Encounter Builder is still in beta. Anything's possible, but I wouldn't expect it soon.
