My DM is transferring our game from Roll20 to DDB, so I'm trying to create my character here. The race I chose is locked behind a $30 paywall, but I own a physical copy of the book (Strixhaven: A Curriculum of Chaos)...
Is there any way to unlock books of which I own a physical copy of, or am I essentially fcuked into forking over ANOTHER $30 to access a digital copy?
You can buy the content individually, but this site isn't run by Wizards of the Coast so it can't give access to D&D books for free. To unlock a specific race, go to the book's entry in the Marketplace, then scroll down until you get to the option to purchase individual content.

Find your own truth, choose your enemies carefully, and never deal with a dragon.
"Canon" is what's factual to D&D lore. "Cannon" is what you're going to be shot with if you keep getting the word wrong.

So, the TL;DR answer is: "No, fork over more money."
Gotcha.
And, thank you.
But I need more than just the race. My chosen background also comes from the same book, and I have other things from other sources (all of which I have already paid for a physical book for), and am not interested in forking out $30 for each book to be able to correctly build my character sheet...
No, there is no way to “unlock” physical books here on DDB. (Just like there is not on Roll 20). If you want to know about why that is, see this thread.
That said, if what you are looking for is a specific race, you do not have to purchase the entire “book” here. You can just purchase the race. (Or the subclasses, spells, feats, etc.). There are, however, no races in the Strixhaven book. So you will need to figure out which book the race is from. Then you can go to the page for that book on the marketplace/storefront, scroll down, and purchase just that item. Anything you spend that way from a given book will be deducted from the price of the book if you decide to purchase it here eventually. (I did this with several books; slowly purchasing individual items, whittling away at the price of the whole book)
If you want to know more about options for purchasing, you might find the buyer’s guide linked in my signature.

The Strixhaven book has a race, the Owlin.
If you dont want to spend the $30, you can get the race on its own for $2, or you could homebrew it for your own personal use, for free, you just cant publish it

Though some of the analogies of the digital and physical being "different variations" is bull. They're rule books with the exact same content (or should be). But short of the long of it is: I'm not going to pay $50 for a physical copy and then pay $30 to access the EXACT SAME book in a digital format. At this rate, I may just do as Zephr1 suggests and write it out as a Homebrew. I had to do it that way in Roll20, may as well do it again.
WotC has done something like that before with MtG Online where if you collect a playset of cards on Online; you can collect those cards in paper, after a fee. (I don't know if this is still an actual thing, but I know at one time it was)

As was pointed out by others. D&D Beyond is not owned or operated by WotC. It is owned by Fandom, a completely separate company.
The point is you can't buy physical products from one company and expect to be entitled to the digital version from another company at no cost. Roll20 doesn't give the books away for free. Fantasy Grounds doesn't. D&D Beyond doesn't either.
If you are in a campaign with other players, then if one player takes a Master subscription then any books purchased here by any of the players in that campaign can be shared between all players in that campaign (whilst they have characters within that campaign).
You could choose some other race, than edit your stats as needed to just make a clone if you know its stats.

Thank you for the correction! I knew that once upon a time, but somehow I didn't see the Owlin Race when I looked at the individual purchase items for Strixhaven.
Couldn't think of a better title off-hand...
