Tomorrow I have a game where one of the PC's got kidnapped. In order for her to have something with the main group I am going to give her control over an NPC that the players loved but think is dead. So... you know, it's a surprise.
I have the unassigned character sheet make in the campaign on here, but I just realized I have NO CLUE how to assign it to her so she can use it.
Anyone have a walk through or tips for me so I'm not fumbling and flailing tomorrow?
If they are already invited to the campaign, then if you make your NPC unassigned, then the player can unassign their own character and play the NPC.
The player can't have two PCs in the same campaign at the same time. But you can have "unassigned" characters in the campaign - which is how you could do this.

Aw, they need to unassign their's first? Cool. Got it. Thank you.

On the contrary; players can have multiple characters in a given campaign at the same time. I have several campaigns here where that is the case. Maybe you meant that a given character can’t be in more than one campaign at once?

Yes! I found that out when she handed me her phone and I assigned her a second character. Haha. It was all pretty easy.
