What happens to characters which use paid content when they're removed from the campaigns through which (via content sharing) they received access to said content?
A bunch of friends' characters are currently in a campaign through which they received access to basically everything. They haven't purchased any content, as far as I know. Now, we want to move them to another campaign (which I'm running), in which content sharing is also enabled, so they'll have access to everything while in the campaign. But, if I'm not mistaken, you can't "switch" campaigns, but rather you leave one and join another, so I'm worried as to what would happen to the characters in the (very short) time during which they'll be out of either campaign. Do they automatically lose anything they had through sharing? Do their subclasses revert to whichever ones are free? Do they lose items sourced from XGtE? Or do they simply lose the ability to modify any of that?
Basically: will characters survive a campaign switch intact if their owning players have not paid for content?
Last I checked, any character choices that currently contain non-free content will stay as they are (until you change them, of course; then you need to get access to that content again to set it back.)
I'm not sure if that extends to private homebrew that doesn't belong to you though.

Just wanted to let you know, I did a test with a private (non-published) homebrew item (that is, I added the item to the character, had the owner leave the campaign and re-join using the link), and it worked (that is, the item was kept on the character, including its attunement state).
Edit: to be clear, the private homebrew item is owned by me, not the character's owner, nor a third party. I'm curious as to what would happen if the character joins someone else's campaign while having a private homebrew item owned by me, but I can't currently check that.
