“They’re coming outta the walls!” - Private Hudson
I’ve had an interest recently in running an Aliens inspired adventure and was curious what monsters people would like to see and feel would be appropriate to run into? I’m considering terrain / climate, structure (caves, temples, whatever), the thematic looks and feels of the monster, and obviously their abilities. I ran a group at something like 9th level (I think) through some Ice Caves, hunting and being hunted by an Ice Devil. It stayed hidden between layers of ice walls and attempted to split the party by causing cave ins and forming ice walls, eventually revealing itself for some hit and run attacks. I was overall pretty satisfied with how the encounter went.
But for a true Aliens experience, with limited waves and a real hive of enemies, an Ice Devil is too much except for very high level PCs I feel. So, let’s say for a party somewhere around 7th to 10th level, what monsters would you suggest?
Edit: If you feel there’s a superior monster that’s just to perfect but doesn’t match the party level I’m thinking of, I’d still love the suggestion.
Kruthiks are pretty close to Xenomorphs in behavior if not actual ability. Though given D&D's emphasis on melee combat, enemies that bleed acid every time they're hurt and attack in packs would be pretty brutal.

Find your own truth, choose your enemies carefully, and never deal with a dragon.
"Canon" is what's factual to D&D lore. "Cannon" is what you're going to be shot with if you keep getting the word wrong.
Kruthiks are a solid idea I should have thought of. Yeah, they don’t have the acid blood but they have pack tactics. I might prefer abilities like my Ice Devils to create Ice Walls, but with Tunneling I can easily imagine them developing all sorts of hazards and ambush points.
