Are we no longer able to just buy feats and backgrounds separately? I was looking to load up on a few things but all that seems to be available is the whole book only.
It seems like that, which is very annoying for me since I had bought a lot of the character options from Xanathar's Guide to Everything, but if I want the rest I have to pay full price for the book, even though I already own a part of it.....
I got some items from some books, one is the Mordenkainen's Fiendish Folio, in which I think I got everything but the compendium, and it would have took me 4-5 bucks to buy the compendium as well, now I would have to pay the full price "again". That's seriously a disgusting move and just shows us, how WotC is corrupting the DnDB price policy....
They posted an update on the main page, individual purchase items will still count towards the cost of the final product. There is apparently a bug right now where that is not happening.

What nobody knows how to properly proofread and test code before they push it?
Did nobody go, “wait a sec, we are breaking up the bundles, what about piecemeal purchases? Will this break that? Did we miss anything?”
I guess this is what you get when you let AI design your code, half-a$$ed and half-working garbage that should have been more properly vetted.
Hell while they are under the hood, add back piecemeal purchases and add custom bundle pack building, and toss a huge discount offer ( even for A-La-carte purchases) to show the community it was an honest mistake. [ I doubt it will happen, but then im a sucker for longshots so, we shall see … ]

Call me cynical but I do not believe for a second that this was a bug. I reckon the code is working exactly as they fully intended for the code to work, and are now scrambling to "fix" their "mistake".

The reality of software development is that (a) bugs happen, and (b) it's very easy to forget to test the behavior of deprecated segments of the software that you're planning on doing away with, testing generally focuses on the parts you're expecting people to use.

i'm just reporting what was mentioned in the official article. don't know why you're jumping on me about it.

It's one thing that bugs can happen, but if this really was "just a bug" than it's a wonder this site even works at all. They removed a key-feature from the marketplace, overseeing a bug which impacts those who already own parts is a giant no-go, because that's should be on their priority list of checks.
I've already seen enough of those "I'm gonna change/fix something but not gonna test a single thing" developings at my work, and it's always the users who have to find and report bugs which are so damn obvious, they shouldn't exist in the first place.

They seem to have replaced the marketplace, so no, they didn't remove a feature -- they didn't re-implement a feature. This doesn't mean they shouldn't be criticized for sloppy QA work, or that you shouldn't press them to fix it, but there's no need to come up with conspiracies, it's well within the plausible range of accident.

Not jumping on you, just commenting on the report.
I understand the coding cycle, and web code is notorious for missed issues.
I just personally think their bug, which appears to be the size of a small house in relation to the whole, just seems to have walked by without a glance.
Then again, can’t rule out its not a bug, but possibly a way for the company to try and get rid of physical stock, by pushing a physical sales with discounted digital add-on. ( and if this is the case, why not just push digital books at a cheaper price? Month of may, all digital books half price, make mint. Instead, we got bite the hand that feeds you. )
Note that, if you want to blame WotC decisions for the changes, there is a WotC decision that we can credibly blame -- but it's not the one people here have been talking about. The core issue is that D&D Beyond is not being given a lot of development resources, and going cheap on development resources means more bugs.
This is a really disappointing decision. I loved the flexibility of purchasing this way. I will most likely homebrew most of the individual things I need now and keep my toonies. It was the super convenience of a small and quick purchase that kept me spending money here. I won’t be buying a whole book for a couple feats. Sigh!
Made a video on this. First 10 mins goes over changes, rest is for my personal thoughts. Spoiler: I'm not happy about it.

Thanks in advance for your help,

It does currently seem as though the Marketplace has moved away from piecemeal purchases and is now pushing physical/digital bundle purchases.
It will be discounted price for the book - it takes into account pre owned parts.
I am NOT happy about the a la cart being removed, and I will NOT be buying future content from this site again!
That's not okay in my opinion.
