WotC, DnDB mods & Devs are really specific that the rules are compatible, so it's still 5.0 just call it "2024 edition" as a programmer, and gamer, updates to the client/software/game usually have a build number. I see this as the 4th major build update.
D&D Next (Beta) 5.a
DnD 5.0 (2014 edition)
DnD 5.1 (Xanathar's Guide to everything)
DnD 5.2 (Campaign setting updates, ie Eberron, Sword Coast, Theros) DnD 5.3 Tasha's (really changed a lot IMO for the better)
DnD 5.4 One DnD (D&D 2024 same system, but massively updated, technically still compatible, but realistically it ends the value of most of the 2014 edition. )

Currently calling it 2024e to avoid confusion, but will likely soon switch to 5.5e. 2024e is a mouthful when speaking, and it's a revision of the rules. I'd be happy to use the terminology that WotC uses, but "we're using the 2024 version of the 5e PHB" is ridiculous, so I'm using whatever is easiest for me until they start being rational. If they ever do.

If you're not willing or able to to discuss in good faith, then don't be surprised if I don't respond, there are better things in life for me to do than humour you. This signature is that response.
Any time an unfathomably powerful entity sweeps in and offers godlike rewards in return for just a few teensy favors, it’s a scam. Unless it’s me. I’d never lie to you, reader dearest.
One benefit this also has is that, if consistently adopted, pre-existing articles talking about 5th edition can be known as talking about 5.0 whereas needing a 5.14/5.24 dichotomy means those references to 5th edition no longer has the default assumption. So keeping 5.0 and using 5.5 is nice and tidy.
I have been calling it the 2024 rules or 5.5. Sometimes I will use other terms if that is the term whomever I am talking about is using, just so the conversation stays consistent.
Frankly, the only wrong answer is calling it 6e. Nothing major is changing to the core mechanics - certainly nothing so significant as a true edition change. At this point, however, most people seem to have gotten the message that this is not really a true edition change and have moved on to other terms. In my experience, the only people I still see using "6e" are folks who want to discredit the 2024 rules by fearmongering over an edition change, usually because they are upset 2024 will finally tackle the removal of Gygax's well-documented bigotry head on.
I see no need to call it anything different. I don’t expect to be talking about the ever-so-slightly different rules in relation to each other very often.
Insisting on calling it the 2024 rules is nonsensical to me it's just... So generic and boring why are they insisting on calling it what amounts to "dnd 5th edition the new rules" that's just so long and boring...
I'm just calling it 5th. Then when people ask me what rules, I say the new ones.
That's it. People are making it too complicated or trying to be the one to coin the new phrase but it's all dumb. The developers are calling it 5th, so it's 5th.

I don't really see just calling it 5th edition as being clear enough when there's reason to differentiate between 5 and 5.5
Xanathar's and Tasha's added new features. But then also there's minor differences people will talk about such as Beastmaster vs Tasha's Beastmaster. And that's a single class where people will specify different rule sets.
And now with a lot of different things I can definitely see a need to clarify. Someone asks, "What class should I choose for my cleric?" With 5 you have subclass at level 1. But also you have some proficiencies, such as heavy armor, tied to the subclass decision whereas 5.5 has the cantrip/martial choice to be made. So you've got different recommendations based on 5 or 5.5 for some of that.
You'll also have builds that are confusing. Like the Hexblade dip in 5 doesn't work in 5.5 so if that's being discussed then clarity is needed for which ruelset is being referred to.
IMO just because the official terminology from WotC is that's just 5th Edition, there's still more than enough changes to make clarifying terms that are nice and simple rather necessary.

I'm gonna be real. I've never found it needed.
I don't have groups that call it hexblade dips. I don't have groups that are multiclassing to multiclass.
I will eventually go "Are we playing new rules or old rules" for 5th. Old is everything prior to Sep 2024, and new is everything post. That said, it's still 5th. This isn't 3 to 3.5 and its definitely not 3.5 to 4. When the new ranger came out, the circles I'm in just flat our discarded the old one because it was that bad. We just assume everyone talks about revised ranger and when someone new comes in, we clue them in.
I firmly acknowledge that in online circles and wide discussion that there will absolutely need to be that clarity. The thread title though was "What are you calling it" and I answered and gave my thought.

Whatever Sam Regal and Liam O'Brien tell me to call it!
5.24 is catching on. I also like 5g or 5.g.
5.5
This is basically to 5th what 3.5 was to 3rd.

Tasha
I like the idea of 5.24, but honestly 5.5 is easier to say and type.

I was originally most in favor of 5.5, but 5.24 has grown on me.

I guess I am an outlier, as I will stick with calling it just 5e.

Five point five.... Five two four..... leave the 'point' out of the second and they are just as easy to say. 5 24 is growing on me.

D&D. If disambiguation is needed, then “2024 rules”, “the new PHB” or perhaps “5.24”.
