I normally use Arkenforge to play in person. I have a 42" TV for the players and I have the DM map on second screen. We put minis on the screen for playing. I use tokens for the minis to deal with fog of war.
At some point we may have to go hybrid so Maps looks interesting. Can I do something similar with Maps? It looks like all I could do would be to put the spectator screen on the TV? Everyone would have to logged into their D&D Beyond account correct?
Another, less ideal, option is how we do it. DM runs map on a VTT (in our case Foundry). One player connnects a laptop to the table surface (TV), and connects to the VTT as a player. Everyone else at the table places miniatures onto the plexiglass that protects the TV. The one player with the laptop then moves all player tokens so they match where the miniatures are standing.
The DM and remote players each control their own tokens.
In other words, we use both, minatures and tokens. One player takes on the resonsibility of moving all player tokens of those at the table to match where the miniatures move to. Remote players move their tokens (and someone at the table then moves their miniature to match). DM controls the monsters which are tokens, no miniatures, to save time having to get out, move, and put away so many different monster miniatures.
Otherwise, yes, each player could connect to the VTT separately I suppose, and one could stream to the TV (but then you only get the view of one character's line of sight).

Playing D&D since 1982
Have played every version of the game since Basic (Red Box Set), except that abomination sometimes called 4e.
I don't see fog of war in D&D Maps. IKs it there? I was hoping spectator would see everyone but it just copied the DM screen. I will have to get one of the players here and see what it looks like from their end
