I feel like if the dungeon tiles sold well, they would still be in print. My guess is that a lot of groups don't use them, even if they use battle mats. At the same time I feel like there needs to be some alterations to miniatures to help these markets.
This. I bought four boxes of Dungeon Tiles on clearance at a bookstore. I asked the guy working there (who I know is into RPGs) and he said they ordered them back when they were first released and had just sat there ever since. Still, it was very nice to buy $80 worth of Tiles for about $25
Another cheap way to make the tiles is to download the graphics and print them off and glue and cardboard. My friend uses cereal boxes for his and it is a super easy solution. He resizes everything to scale and hits the print button.
The flat screen idea is of course the high end of table top mapping but there are other ways.

"...Debts must always be paid, sometimes in more than blood and gold. But this is Ordo Ursa," Ren places his hand on Erakas's chest, right where the Dragonborn's heart is. "Right here. And it always has been and always will be. Don't ever forget that. Because I won't."

If they do release new sets of tiles, I hope that the individual tiles jigsaw together like the ones that came with the Dungeon Command board game.
The tiles that came with the D&D board games are compatible with the Dungeon Command games. I have all 4 of those. I really want the DC games too.
I've picked up a few copies of every set and I really recommend picking a few up just for the minis alone as its a really a great value. Considering a blind pack of 4 minis will set you back $15. Being able to get an entire encounter worth of prepainted goblins, undead or orcs for $40 is a steal. Not to mention, you can guarantee with the 12 minis in each set what you are getting.
Plus there is the added bonus that the game itself really is quite fun. Especially once you start mixing the cards and minis from different sets into custom armies.
i didn't know the other board games had the same kind of tiles though. Makes it more likely I'll pick a few up. Thanks for that!
I only use the best for my players, and I use them for every game. I don't need a TV, electricity, and a lot more portable :-) Plus admit it, it looks freakin RADICAL!!
And where do you get that using dungeon tiles is railroading your players?!?!?!?

The biggest issue with the tv option is when you think of option A, B, and C and the PCs decide to go with option Z.
