I have a questions about sharing homebrew content with your players. I have started a campaign and want to create some cutom monsters and items but I do now want to share them with my players before they encounters the creatures and find the items. How do I do this? I understand that all homebrew is automaticly shared with players of the campaign?
Any homebrew you create is automatically placed in your collection. You can go ahead and remove it from there and then it won't be shared with people in your campaigns.
If you wish to see the homebrew, you can still do so by looking in your creations:
Thanks @Stormknight for this information; very helpful. Are there plans to change this, or could that be requested. It seems that by default, Homebrew things should not be shared, so that you don't accidentally let your PCs see monster stats or items; and then you could just add it to the collection when/if you want to. Generally, a DM doesn't want their players to see the monsters they've come up with beforehand. I'd love there to be a toggle to set the default for this.
It's something that a small number of people have requested, but honestly speaking the vast majority of the time, when someone creates homebrew, they will want it to be shared.
I imagine that, if the default was set to not add to your collection (and thus not shared), we would get a lot of posts from people asking why the homebrew they created isn't working for someone in their campaign, along with requests to set the default to sharing.

I understand. It seems to me that one default is more appropriate for some homebrew items, like classes and races, while the other default is more appropriate for others, like monsters. It'd be great if a DM could toggle for each time, but I understand if that kind of option is not a priority for DnD Beyond. I just have to remember to always immediately remove my monsters from my collection to avoid players accidentally accessing it. Once again, thanks for the original helpful post (I'm sure the info is available elsewhere, but this thread was the first place I found it), and thanks for the thoughtful feedback.
Speaking a player and a DM, I have things in my homebrew section I want my players to have and other things I don't. I find it would be nice to have a toggle for what things I want to share or not. I share content in other games as a player that owns books that others don't, but it automatically makes it so people can see everything I have saved in my homebrew stuff that I don't want people to see. Like weapons and races and subclasses. I have stuff in one game that I use in one game and not the other.
You're in luck - one of the features that's next up on the roadmap is "granular content sharing" which should allow much more detailed control over what is and isn't shared or available in each campaign.
Sorry to re-open this, but how does this work in combination with the Combat Tracker? From what I've seen, when you create an encounter you can only do it with creatures in your collection, but my homebrew creatures are not in my collection because I want them to stay hidden from my players until after the encounter.
I'm curious about this also now that I've figured out how to create monsters and stuff on this site. It's kind of ridiculous as a DM that my monsters would be automatically shared with the players in my campaign.

Hi there BleakHouse,
absolutely possible. :)
Homebrew you have created is only shared if it's in your homebrew collection.

If you wish to see the homebrew, you can still do so by looking in your creations:
https://www.dndbeyond.com/homebrew/creations
From there you can also add the homebrew you've created back to your creations again, when you do wish to share it.
Links to both your collection and creations pages are on the homebrew page, which is accessed from the avatar menu at the top-right of the page.
