Been lookin' for a solid 20-25 minutes for a definite answer and I haven't really found anything that answers this and I don't wanna spend another hour trying to find something so I apologize if this has been addressed somewhere else. So, I just got a subscription, but I want to renew on my own instead of have it auto-charge when the time comes (I hate that kinda thing for some reason... probably because I'm poor, but love DnD). So, basically my subscription lasts into 2020, but if I "Cancel Subscription" I still maintain the benefits until that expiry date, yes? I'm just paranoid because of the wording and how other subscriptions have shafted me in the past by taking away my benefits immediately after I unsub.
Confirmed that you keep the benefits until it expires since the standard process is that we don't refund you any remaining balance.
Now, if you were to cancel the subscription, and then also request a refund from our support team, for the remaining balance, the subscription benefits would then be revoked at the time of refund.
Thanks for the heads up! I was looking into having to suspend a subscription for various reasons, but now I know I can ride it out since it is a while until it renews and I wouldn't lose anything.
My subscription auto renews on Friday. If I cancel my subscription, will I eventually lose my characters since the free service only supports 5 characters? I just don't want to lose all of them except 5. I'm hoping it'll save the ones I've already made, and just prevent me from creating more.
The limit is actually 6 characters. If you cancel your subscription then you will be forced to select which 6 you want to retain access to and the rest will become locked. If at a later point you wish to unlock any of those characters you will need to resubscribe. (The cheapest option, a 1-month Hero Tier subscription would be sufficient.) Even if you wanted to switch which characters were unlocked, resubscribing is the only solution.

Thank you so much for supplying me with an answer. Exactly the information I was looking for
That sounds like an issue to take up with customer support directly, while DDB staff do pay some attention to the forum, it is a community forum and stuff that involves payment processing or stopping payment processing you probably want to contact staff direct.
I can confirm (second hand) that no one has complained about getting payments canceled or refunded via support ticket, except maybe for it not happening over a weekend or while banks closed etc.

I asked the same a while ago. You keep it until it expires.
I didn't know this. Now I have an answer for the next person.

Much appreciated to those who replied! I'd rather have just been safe rather than sorry.

Do you lose access to your downloaded homebrews if you go back to a free account?
If you mean the stuff you have added to your collection, then I believe you keep those.

The the support ticket system is said to be pretty robust.
