Leo's Hut is a Wizard's ritual spell. You learn it and never use a slot to cast it. Ever. Effectively it is a cantrip that takes 10 minutes to cast that you can only learn after 5th level. Well worth taking.
A lot of the problem with Galder's Tower is that Tiny Hut exists and is amazingly powerful compared to what it did in prior editions. If Tiny Hut didn't exist or was only as effective as in prior editions (stops vision and ordinary bad weather) Galder's Tower would be more interesting.

I could see a Druid and/or Ranger spell, they both should have some kind of spell that protects them from weather and being found by beasts. It should be low level, especially as Rangers do not get 3rd level spells until 9th level. Forget about an extra-dimensional space or that huge size, too powerful.
I see a 2nd level Druid/Ranger only spell with a ten minute casting time that lets you turn a tree or bushes into a hut capable of holding 4 medium or smaller creatures. Have the door magically close and vanish into the woodwork. The plants erase tracks and scents in a thousand foot radius, and no noise can leave the hut. Animals you designate when casting will not stray far and will gain a +5 stealth bonus for the duration. When upcast, it contains +2 more people per level above 2nd.
The problem with Leo’s Hut and your version of my ranger spell is that they leave the mounts outside to fend for themselves. Using horses as an example, they are herd creatures so finding 1-6 lone ( or small group) horses, especially if some are geldings, without a clear lead stallion is a fairly obvious pointer to there being folks that ride them nearby somewhere. A extra dimensional space 300 sq ft by 10’ high gives plenty of space for a party of 5-6 along with mounts and maybe a pack horse. All the other stuff with erasing tracks and stealth etc isn’t needed really. As a SOP you would use pass without trace about an hour before you camp then cast the hidden camp spell before it ends entering the camp and closing the opening so you can see out but others can’t see the portal without magic and your good to go. When designing spells I always true to KISS 😁 - just what you really need w/o the bells and whistles.
A single "floor" of Galder's Tower, example plan vs irl =
Note: Beds sleeps a 7 foot 3 inch tall PC, each, and could be "bunk beds".
Cost to cast or "recast", is a stick or stone ("a fragment of stone, wood, or other building material") = "free"
It lasts 24hr per casting, can become permanent
"During a Long Rest" method castings, can pretty much make it as "costly" as Leomund's Tiny Hut (ie no "used up" slot during adventuring day)
You can add furniture/beds or put other stuff in rooms (not stuck with them as they come...)
Upcasting to 9th level, via above method, could yield an 80 foot tall tower with 800sqft interior space and a 100sqft parapet roof top... FREE
Other permanent additions, in a "party effort", like Arcane Lock + Continual Flame + Druid Grove + Forbiddance + Guards and Wards + Hallow.... could make a super nifty base.
As shown: 10x10 =2x single "dresser drawer" day beds + 1xtable/desk with chair(s) + 2xwardrobe/shelf combination
"Bunk beds" and furniture rearrangement could make this a "barracks" type general room, for up to 6, if a bit cramped.
.... with 2-floors(to 8 floors, 80 feet tall!), recast until permanent, IMHO its a decent "guild house/outpost" for near nothing

And where, in there, is the ladder to the 2nd floor?
It folds down from the ceiling like a loft ladder :)
In real life a 10 by 10 room could fit a queen bed and modern furnishings like wardrobes nightstands, a tv, etc and still have room to spare. Plus you could always talk with your DM to see if you could switch it from a 100 sqft limit per level to an overall limit. So a 3rd level cast allows for 2,000 cubic foot limit and each level after adds 1,000.
Did you ever think this was an offensive spell? Think about casting this onto the deck of a medium size enemy ship....
Funny, but the ten minute casting time makes it an impractical strategy.
Unless you have a spell gem.

This thread really just highlights that we should have Leomund's Secure Shelter make a return!
Leomund's Tiny Hut in 5e is basically a combination of Tiny Hut and Secure Shelter in 3.5e (tiny hut in 3.5e... protected you from weather).
Tiny Hut now adds protection from attacks, but the charm of 3.5e Secure Shelter was summoning a physical cottage with furnishings, alarms, and an unseen servant.

So just Galder's Tower and ritual cast your unseen servant. Same result, it seems. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

When you grab the pull string, it shows up above the carpet in the middle of the room.
One of the book cases is on hinges, like a secret door and the ladder is on the back side. ;0)

Or maybe the shelves of the bookcase are close enough together that it can be used as the actual ladder.

The ladder could be built into the bookcase and the trapdoor could slide.
Slight correction. The diameter would be 11 feet, not the radius.

Find your own truth, choose your enemies carefully, and never deal with a dragon.
"Canon" is what's factual to D&D lore. "Cannon" is what you're going to be shot with if you keep getting the word wrong.

Which is barely an issue given distant spell metamagic and teleporting options that are available.
Just saying it's possible, not that it's optimal (there are way better options for dealing with enemy ships).
I did make a thread with tips for seafaring wizards that present better options for dealing with enemy ships.

Which is why I said impractical rather than impossible.

A 10 by 10 foot room is very large and can fit anything in the spell… you should measure your rooms in real life
