... SNIP ... The DDB character sheet is light years better than the one on Roll20, and you won't have to repurchase anything you already have here on DDB.

Are you sure? That could make my life a little easier.
Our group has multiple players that use the DDB character sheet and the Beyond 20 extension with Roll20.

Much that once was is lost. Objects in Mirror Image are closer than they appear. All the world's indeed a stage, and we are merely players, performers and portrayers...
I understand that portion. I just noticed that the last time I tried using the plugin it didn't seem to like that I did not own the same books in Roll20. Im wondering if the statement that I dont have to repurchase the books there is true.

I've not seen that in my experience, we are all in a campaign on DDB with content sharing turned on and then 4 of us use the DDB character sheets to send rolls, spell descriptions, etc to Roll20. Our use of Beyond 20 hasn't had any issues that we've encountered with Roll20 and what content is or is not owned on Roll20. I hope that helps.

missunderstanding error.... roll20 and ddb do not share their books, thus if you want roll20 to have everything you'll need to buy from them too. what the guys have been saying, is that you can use their vtt map/video/audio interface for free, not their books. they use DDB through the use of the chrome extension called beyond20 to send the dice rolls and the likes to roll20, but the extension do not give access to the books. they are using DDB for that.

Wizard of the Coast - Creators of magic the gathering and buyers of TSR dungeons and dragons back in the late 90ies. - dungeons and dragons from them started on 3rd edition. - the company owns the rights. - they are not a seller, they dont have a store to buy from. they are a producing company. - producing companies do not sell stuff to consumers, they produce the stuff then find sellers who wants to sell it for them. - companies like beyond, your local game store, fantasy ground, roll20 have a partnership with WotC to sell their product. basically they sell, some of the money go to their pocket, the rest goes to WotC. - unless wotc decides to add coding to their books, other companies cannot do a thing about it. - thats why roll20, fantasy ground, beyond, drivethrough rpg and any other local game store or seller of book cannot help you with that feature. its everyone for themselves when it comes to producing companies.
exemple: you go to a station to fuel your car or truck or ATV. that's the seller, not the producer, the station has no say in the cost of your fuel.
exemple: You buy food from your grocery store, you don't just go to their producers and farmers to get your food.
this is why its all in WotC hand and this is also why wotc have refused for years to become a seller. they have much more power as a producing company.

I absolutely love the chrome extension. It works both with Roll20 and discord and is on a whole nether level then the options recommended her on D&D beyond for either system. It even makes Roll20 easier to use.

Personally what I really need is a VTT tool that works well on mobile. Roll20 is terrible for it, and frankly so are the other options. Right now I’m experimenting with 5e EncounterPlus app, but it’s $6 to be able to import maps and use all the features. I don’t mind paying for something if it works but right now I’m leary as all the other options I’ve tried don’t cut it and I don’t want to waste money on something that can’t deliver.
I have looked at it before but they really need some tutorials. A lot of it is easy to use but when I ran into something I did not know how to do it would have been nice to have some help. I think if I had never used any editing tools before it would have been really confusing. I like the simple maps way better than the 3D trend that you see in advertising.

Astral Tabletop is trying to be used on mobile device. though they boast to be used on desktop ad laptop, their interface is easy to control with a tablet. my friend uses it on his ipad which they boast is not supported, yet it works fine for him. an dnow they have better systems now, so it loads super fast now. but they have the downside of being very new to the scene thus they are still doing their best to add necessary features. but they are getting there and they have avery good working minimal interface. i really love it, much better then roll20 and foundry. at least if you ask me.

Very helpful as I am constantly looking for more player resources! Thank you for posting!
Thank you for the good ideas! My friends and I will use this to switch to an online format.

Will there ever be a way to scan our already bought books into the app so we don’t have to pay for them teice
No, dnd beyond is not WotC. I just buy all my books on D&D beyond
WotC?

This is my fear also. How will I pay $6 to be able to import features and it won't still work. So frustrating!
Thanks!
Thank you!
