'The dice giveth, and the dice taketh away' - unknown scoundrel
Personally what I really need is a VTT tool that works well on mobile. Roll20 is terrible for it, and frankly so are the other options. Right now I’m experimenting with 5e EncounterPlus app, but it’s $6 to be able to import maps and use all the features. I don’t mind paying for something if it works but right now I’m leary as all the other options I’ve tried don’t cut it and I don’t want to waste money on something that can’t deliver.
Imo you won’t find it- kinda like thinking you’ll find robust CAD software or image editing software for your phone.
After over a year of DMing online that was surprisingly successful and fun for my 3 players with minimal tech/accounts involved: 1. DnD Beyond - Set up a campaign and share the books - as DM I prepare all encounters here, I have NPCs, monsters, artefacts,... yadda yadda yadda - here. All the real technical things happen here as well as dice rolls.
2. Owlbear Rodeo - That's our playing table - for me as DM a brilliant solution because its simple. My players learned to do everything within minutes, I can use fog of war if needed, I have dozens of prepared maps and ... 1500 tokkens of individual NPCs and monsters (thank you Heroforge my love) - its easy to organise even with such absurd numbers. Also for tracking status and hitpoints I just mark them on the tokkens, its fast, its easy for the players and we don't waste time in software functionalities.
3. Heroforge - I did nearly all my tokkens there, my players designed there characters there, we have everything visualised in a consistent style which is great.
4. As a bonus - World Anvil - a Wiki I maintain for them, but we also just need it because it 100% homebrew.
5. Skype for the calls just because we all already had it.
There is nearily no learning curve with those tools, feels pretty much like playing around a table, tech doesn't take the spotlight. Also except for the DnD beyond account there is no real need for registering anywhere. You can easily have people join the campaign and learn the tools since the character sheet on dnd beyond is great, dice rolls are also visible and owlbear roadeo is made for beginners.
Not only did they pull this stunt, but then they tried to gaslight us in their latest release by claiming that the leaks were them trying to get feedback from the community.

We tried this during Covid lockdowns, but then we got to go to the table. We never went back as everyone loves seeing the maps, minis, etc.
Hasn't released yet but there is a new software coming out on steam towards the end of the year called menyr. It has Combat, world generation and character sheets inbuilt. Looks good graphically and seems promising.
Hello, everyone! I've written a series of articles that cover a few topics in Dungeons and Dragons; specifically, Druids, Rangers, and healing spells. It's good, solid information, and I'd love for you to check it out and let me know what you think. Mods, if this is in the wrong place, please message me with the correct one! The links are below.
Thank you for your fast response. That makes my heart soar.
Lost Mine of Phandelver now now available for free on D&D Beyond.

Dont, at least not through this company.
Not only did they pull this stunt, but then they tried to gaslight us in their latest release by claiming that the leaks were them trying to get feedback from the community.
If they wanted that, then they could have asked.
They didn't.
They just told us not to trust our own eyes.
Hasbro is the worse. #OPENDND
Thanks this really helped a lot.😊
