True, but that is what they asked for. The DM offered them some magic items but the players turned it down. So either they are new players and don't realise - in which I would explain it to them, or they are experienced players trying it on - and in that case I would teach them a lesson.
That's why I explicitly said that the Wizard would teach the Sorcerer and Warlock a spell that was on THEIR CLASS spell list, and that they would get to use it when they level up and get a new spell known.....
That way they are not getting access to a spell that they would not normally have or getting an extra spell that they would not normally have.
I'd probably allow that if the amount of spells prepared would stay the same. You can swap out, but still have the same amount as regular Warlocks or Sorcerers per day. Changing a class to have more spells even in their own list changes the restrictions their class is designed around.
Heck, a Wand of Fireballs is probably more useful than a single spell that uses an off Ability score 1ce/LR. If the players want the spell instead of a magic item, so what?

A wand of fireballs is a Rare magic item. As a DM, I would tell them if they wanted to hire a Wizard to teach them more spells that use Int (instead of their natural Spellcasting ability) then a 1st-level spell would cost 5,000gp per PC, and it goes up from there.

Neither sorcerers nor warlocks would become broken by letting them learn an extra spell. Sorcerers in particular have far too few spells known.
Find your own truth, choose your enemies carefully, and never deal with a dragon.
"Canon" is what's factual to D&D lore. "Cannon" is what you're going to be shot with if you keep getting the word wrong.
