Recently, a friend of mine decided she wants to dm for me and some of her friends. She has a good bit experience with the game, and shes a strategical genius from what ive heard. Now, i wanna ruin that entirely for her with a sneaky boi rogue, but i wanna know if its possible for a rogue/wizard to walk up to someone, Kamehameha a fireball right into their back, and then cast something like Disguise or Invisibility to back off for another advantageous sneak attack. Also fireball specifically so that i can let my nature take hold and just go full pyromaniac whenever i feel like it.
Ive played more 3.5 than 5e, so the multiclass system is much more complex to me. Is there some clarification i can get on specifics? And how far/fast ill be able to dabble into mage with the 5e 1/1 leveling system for multiclasses?
You can, but you would also get hit by the fireball, and you cannot add Sneak Attack damage time Fireball.
With 5e you don’t have to do a 1/1 Multiclass. And you don’t even need to Multiclass to make a Rogue who can cast Fireball because you can take the Arcane Trickster as a Subclass.
This is newer information to me, as i typically dont play rogue. Ive heard of Arcane Trickster, oc, but i didnt know too many specifics except that theyre very minorly magically inclined. i seem to have been mistaken, and ill look into it more

I'm going to assume you mean "ruin that entirely for her" in a "this is a good natured competition, and I'm not actually seriously trying to ruin her experience as a DM" way. If she is a tactical genius, she can probably deal with fireballs just fine. A DM might allow a crazy genius overpowered solution to fly once, but you bet they'll have countermeasures if you keep using it. If they don't, the game will get boring for everyone. Don't be a one trick pony.
Yes, you'd get hit by the fireball point blank (unless you choose evocation wizard). You'd be hard pressed to cast it point blank without anyone noticing, since it has a verbal component. Although I don't think there's any advantage to casting it point blank.
Yes arcane trickster can get fireball...at 13th level (wizard gets it at 5th). I play an arcane trickster, and bypass the damage dealing spells (although booming or green fire blade look promising). If I want to do damage, I'll stab or shoot.
Have fun playing, and always thank your DM! They put a lot of effort in so you can have a fun game!

Why not use lightning bolt instead, would work better as a kamehameha wave.
