I was never an Apple person originally, but after having repeated problems with Android phones, I went iPhone about 3 years ago, and I still have that one (an 8), and love it. After about 6 months of that, I needed a new tablet and was so sold on the iPhone that I went iPad. Still have that too. I love them.
The D&D beyond stuff works well enough on the iPad, though I find the app for reading the books frankly horrible. This has more to do with UI/User experience than the OS, though, I think. Whether there are iOS bugs that would not exist in say a Surface or an Android tablet, or some of the UI issues I have are based on the iOS version, I cannot speak to, since it's the only one I have tried.

If you're looking for a cheap, pretty-good option, check out an Amazon fire hd 8. You can often find them on sale for ~$60. It's not the fastest tablet, but you really can't do better for the price.

If it's pretty much just for DDB, it's really not worth it spending hundreds of dollars on a tablet. I'm very happy with my iPad, but I rarely use that for DDB - with social distancing measures in place we're playing online exclusively and under these circumstances my laptop is much more convenient.
Just for DDB - then a Kindle Fire HD 8 or 10 will do the job nicely, including dice rolling within DDB. Use the Silk browser and its pretty good.
You can install google on to the Kindles which will allow you to install the DDB apps but im my experience, google services seem to drain the battery on kindles really quickly.
The Fire 7 isn't up to the job I've found.
If you have money to burn, iPad is probably your best bet.

I suspect almost any android tablet is cheaper than an iPad, so go with a standard android instead, if it's just a browser and the dndbeyond app that you need.
What about "Editing" or "Customizing"? (ie: Items/armour/Inventory) I've found I can't do that on my phone via app but my computer has no issues. Anyone confirm if you're able on the tablets?

Most modern tablet browsers (and a number of phone browsers for that matter) will include an option to access a given site in "Desktop Mode" which will restore the PC interface you're more used to. I would try to access DDB that way rather than through the app and see if that gets you to the functionality you're looking for.
For me, the most important thing about a tablet is a protective case. The tablet is expensive and the cases offered by ipod and andriod tend to NOT protect it enough.
I swear by Supcase. They are strong, come with a stand and have proven themselves to protect my tablet when I drop it.
Heyo, thinking about grabbing a tablet of sorts pretty much just for D&D Beyond. Any suggestions? What do you use? Any tips are appreciated, thanks!
I swear by my iPad, but they are pricey.

I use a Surface Pro 3. It's like 5 or 6 years old but it's perfect for browsing the internet and using for D&D.
I love my iPad and iPhone and use those pretty much exclusively for everything I do on DDB.

Want to start playing but don't have anyone to play with? You can try these options: [link].

i use a cheap wallmart ONN tablet. 100 bucks is the most I would spend on a tablet. The bigger the screen the better.
My tablet doesn't have any real problems with the web site or even the dice roller. Unless I am trying to roll 100 die 20's
Remember that the size of your phone screen is what limits the app. Any larger tablet running a simple browser will work far better
