“Countless tales have been born and ended throughout the daily struggles of the people who live in the forgotten realms of Faerûn. Tales of danger and adventure. Tales of darkness and despair. Tales of joy and hope. Tales of legendary heroes and villains. Tales of gods and devils. Tales of kings and peasants alike. And most important of all, tales that sing of the countless brave and determined adventurers from all walks of life who travel the realms, make their names known to the world, and face equally innumerable challenges so that the rest of us can live out our lives in peace and quiet.
I bid you….stay awhile and listen, for this is one such tale.
Having successfully passed through several grueling mental and physical trials, you have all become freshly-appointed Watchers, initiate-rank members of the Harpers, a semi-secret organization dedicated to promoting good, preserving history (including art and music of old) and maintaining a balance between civilization and nature by keeping kingdoms small and the destruction of animal and plant life to a minimum.
Regardless of your individual reasons for joining the faction, you have all become well acquainted with each other through undergoing and graduating the intensive Harper training together, becoming a fledgling inner circle of allies during your time at Moongleam Tower, the northern Harper base that lies within the city of Everlund. In light of this, your superiors have chosen you to undertake a mission that they deem is within the abilities of new Watchers such as yourselves. There's been a recent rash of disappearances connected to the nearby High Forest, and they've chosen YOU to investigate the cause. This will be your very first official mission as representatives of the organization, one that will take you outside the comforting walls of Everlund, and back into the vast outside world of Faerûn.
Unbeknownst to our would-be heroes however, this seemingly straightforward mission is about to pave the way for an even grander adventure. One that may very well shape the future of Faerûn for generations to come.”
Campaign Features:
[Harpers] Play as newly-minted Harper initiates and journey across the realms of Faerûn and beyond to fight the forces of evil on your faction’s behalf, and protect the world’s balance from those who would disrupt it for their own ends.
[Balanced Gameplay] This will be a campaign that I intend to have a good mix of combat and roleplay, set within WotC’s official Forgotten Realms setting of Faerûn. I’m looking to maintain a balance that will be appealing to both veteran and newbies alike.
[RP] Take on the role of adventurers from various walks of life who have aligned themselves with a semi-secret organization dedicated to doing their particular brand of good throughout the world. Whether fulfilling faction missions or undertaking other unrelated quests, your actions will affect how your overarching adventure ultimately unfolds, so feel free to be as creative with your character builds and backstories as you wish.
[Homebrewed Race Options] This campaign will also provide the opportunity to experiment with new homebrewed race options of a more exotic variety, for those of you who aren’t quite satisfied with the official selection already available.
HOW TO APPLY:
Go to the game listing in Roll20, and read the instructions in the Application thread carefully. Any applications posted outside of that thread will be deleted.
The game proper, due to its scope, will not start until September 7th. Applicants will be chosen on or before August 24th. The week following successful recruitment (August 31st) is when we will be having our Session 0 for the campaign. The game will be run once per week on Saturdays starting from 9:00PM EST, and we will use Discord for voice chat and Roll20 for the game itself.
A decent mic, the ability to use Discord, and rock-solid availability for 2.5-3 hour sessions once a week!
THINGS YOU MUST BE COOL WITH:
Homebrew race options that might not be perfectly balanced.
A novice-level GM who tries to have some sort of balance between story, rules and combat.
Being a team player. I very much prefer cooperation to a group being (unironically) at odds. Losing an hour to an argument about what to do next is no fun. Either follow the leader or vote!
The possibility of working with players who are less experienced than you.
Being part of a long-term campaign.
Being polite and respectful to other players and having fun. There is a zero-tolerance policy for sexual harassment in any form at this virtual table. If the DM is told by anyone that they are being made uncomfortable by another player, there will be no arguing about if the behavior really was sexual harassment or not and the resulting actions.
