By now I am sure many of you have heard the news about Curse Media and Fandom joining forces, and I personally could not be more excited about what this means for D&D Beyond. I wanted to share some collected information all in one place here on the forums to hopefully help out.
First, here are the full details (I'll also paste at the bottom of the post) over what's happening and what that means for you.:
In summary I'll use a couple of posts from the Reddit thread.
This does not negatively impact (or change) anything that we're doing for DDB at all - save the fact that we will now have the ability to invest even more into resources to achieve the vision we have for it. No staff changes other than giving us more to work with and we're still going to be the best digital resource we can be for Dungeons & Dragons. I am personally thrilled (not a party line) that this has happened and there's nothing but win for all of us D&D fans.
And also, knowing that these are the kinds of things that are always said.
Just like I said when we announced DDB and there was so much backlash, the "proof is in the pudding." I know that skepticism is natural for something like this, but that just makes me excited to see that melt away as we move forward and continue to do bigger and better things.
I'm grateful for you the community that will be with us on this adventure. I can't wait to let time tell the story of what's in store for DDB and Dungeons & Dragons!

Curse Media And Fandom Are Joining Forces!
We’re excited to announce that Curse Media will be joining the Fandom team. We have provided some information about this transition below.
What websites or services are involved?
All of the Curse Media sites and services will be involved, including D&D Beyond, Gamepedia, Futhead, and Muthead. For a complete list of websites/services involved, please see below.
CurseForge, the Twitch App (formerly the Curse App), and Union for Gamers will be staying with Twitch.
How will this impact me?
We are working hard to minimize any impact to our users. Login via Twitch authentication will continue to be available after the transfer, and your user accounts on the Curse Media sites/services will not be affected. Any purchases you’ve made will continue to be available to you. For users in the European Economic Area, please click here for information that is specific to you.
What options do I have?
In advance of this transfer, we will continue to make our account deletion form available. If you’d like, you may delete your account in advance of this date, and Fandom will not receive the deleted information.
Please remember that if you elect to delete your account, your account (and any purchases associated with it) will become inaccessible and you will not receive refunds in connection with paid-up subscription periods. As part of their commitment to data privacy, Fandom will treat any of your data that is transferred over (for example, your account information) under the same terms as the Twitch Privacy Policy. Fandom’s Privacy Policy is located here: http://fandom.wikia.com/curseprivacy

I am skeptical, but I will hope for the best. I personally loved having all my accounts linked.
Pleased about the announcement, but the pop up for consent to transfer terms and account data is popping up on every page and every reload. I have agreed maybe 50 times. Is there a way to stop this from happening? Thanks!

I'm having the same experience, and it is very annoying.
I didn’t even have time to read my pop up. Page loaded and I tapped the screen to open an article on the front page. Pop up conveniently showed up as I tapped and immediately was dismissed.

We had an issue pop up with the pop up a couple of hours ago that is now resolved - apologies for the inconvenience!

You might have gone too far the other way. Apart from the "Awesome" pop up I clicked on a few days ago I haven't seen any pop ups requesting consent to transfer terms and account data.

If you clicked "Awesome" (we have since changed it to "Got It" or "Okay" after some feedback), then you have done all you need to do and won't see the pop up again on that device/ browser.
Seems like Twitch (owned by Amazon) bought Curse for Curseforge and the Curse client users, but really didn't want the Curse Media parts of the business because it doesn't really fit the business model. After getting all the stuff that Twitch wanted from the Curse purchase, they sliced out the stuff they didn't really want and sold it all off to Fandom which actually has room for that stuff in its business model.

Am I getting this right?
Fandom largely bought Curse Media for Gamepedia, which fits their business model exactly. D&D Beyond is more than likely inconsequential to them, which may turn out to be a good thing because they might not completely mess it up unlike everything else they touch.

So, I clicked Awesome the first time it came up but for some reason I got a "Got It" banner coming to the site just now. The problem is that I immediately clicked on a link to go to another page as I hadn't meant to go to the page I went to and in doing so, the "Got It" banner disappeared before I could stop the page loading the next URL. Now it's not coming up at all...

Your mobile popup to transfere is unreadable. The toptop half disappears and there's only the option Okay! That will trigger the : thank you for opting in for transfer.
I'm all in for more resources, and stuff.
But I have no clue what i opted in for because i couldnt read half of it.
Question do we need to do anything to not get deleted our accounts?
If you are in Europe, you will need to opt-in via the website banner or via the email you received this week. If you do NOT receive a follow-up email by 12/26, then that means you have successfully opted-in and nothing at all will change/ happen with your account.
If you are not in Europe, no action is needed - the banner is informational.
From what I have seen and experienced myself, the concern is the usual: change is bad. I'm not trying to be disingenuous, it's an understandable concern, whether valid or not.
For one, whenever you hear about companies merging, you tend to also hear horror stories about what happens to the lesser partner(s). The lesser partner tends to be the one "bought out," which in this case is Curse. We are all here for D&D Beyond, which is a small part of Curse. And, not one of the parts Fandom seems to be interested in Curse for.
The other thing is that Fandom itself doesn't really have a positive reputation, and that includes with myself personally. Its services are basically wikipedia-like sources for various pop culture things. When I have gone to a Fandom site, at worst I've found tons of erroneous content, at times even deliberately misleading content. The ads and auto-playing videos are an annoyance. At best, they've just been plain sub-par compared to other sites not part of Fandom. For example, as a Warhammer 40k fan I have no reason to go to Fandom's 40k wiki, when a superior alternative 40k wiki exists with Lexicanum. Granted, Fandom's sites are free, as optional as you can get, and any issues I have with it are exceptionally minor due to this.
These complaints I have of Fandom seem to be commonly shared, and they are the dominant partner of this buy-out. That's the state of things from an outsider perspective, and it's understandable to be concerned about it. Any time there are concerns, there are going to be over-reactions.
Far as I'm concerned, it's happened and it's done. I'll continue to use D&D Beyond, I'll continue to not care about Fandom. if it ends up negatively affecting me, like D&D Beyond becoming like Fandom's wiki sites, I'll leave. We've been told the company line, and as stated, "the proof will be in the pudding." I'm not going to delete my account, that'd be counterproductive. It's not even a consideration. That'd be me saying that since something bad might come of it, I will make sure that something bad does come of it.
I'm going to continue to be a customer of D&D Beyond, and buy new products. I'll take BadEye at his word, and look forward to all that they've got planned for 2019.
