I have DMed for over 25 years and I just purchased most of 5th edition so that I can teach my 8 year old daughter the game that has entertained me for almost 3 decades, well done and keep the online references coming.

My source is that they promised it to us in June and next Friday is the latest they can deliver on that promise without being liars. To be honest though, when we were told that we were going to "have a very happy June," I had hoped that they meant more of June than the last few days of it.

I don't understand why a basic search function should be met with more praise than the launch of an extremely useful character building tool. Does Global Search do something that I am unaware of? Does it make me waffles?

This beta is different than that of a video game. You aren't given a completed product to play with for a week before it's released. You get to see the creation and evolution of D&D Beyond first hand. You get a voice in how it changes. I, along with others, find that pretty exciting.
Yeah I am not sure "beta" is the right term here, though I am not sure what it is. This is a building process and we definitely have some say in it. They are actively putting in features that we request. It is kind of amazing. I started playing a PBP game last week. To use the die roller you had to type it out. Now we have an icon to do it because I wrote it. :) The coolest thing though is we were able to want something and help them get it implemented.
The global search function is a great thing and as more content is available it will become more needed.

And the dice roller was written by skizzerz. Like I said, the community is shaping this app, just as much as the developers. I've never been a part of something this big, this amazing before.

It does make you find stuff on the site quicker, which is not as delicious as waffles, but still helpful.
I like being a tester. Global search might not be as awesome a feature as Phase 2 will likely be, but it gave us more stuff to test. That did make me happy!
