“I think we should go with Bjorn’s idea,” Vars says. “Though perhaps we should avoid mentioning whether or not we actually do know where Abernath is. The poster gives us the perfect reason to see Itongrass.” He smiles. “We just need to know if finding Abernath is worth our time, and according to the poster, Irongrass is the one to talk to. Maybe we know where the missing wizard is, maybe we don’t.”
"Captain?" Sparhawk says, satisfied if the group has their story straight. "This is going to be the enjoyable part of our evening." Sparhawk says, with a sarcastic tone.
"If we would need an excuse to see this Irongrass I agree that saying we are seeing him about Abernath the Infernal is a good idea."Sorsha says with a nod and a quick smile. "And it wouldn't necessarily be untrue as we would still be looking into more jobs after this one right?"
As you talk and walk across the bridge, you pass several guard houses that are empty. You assume the guards that went to the beach would normally be posted here. You are able to cross over to the Island. You see the huge Mansion owned by the 1st Ship, CAPT Kurth. There is a lot of activity about the grounds and lots of armed men keeping watch. Next to the mansion is the large Barracks for the city defense forces. Everyone watches you, but none approach or ginder your travel. You are able see the magnificent tower more clearly now as you approach a hill that leads to the entrance. The base of the tower looks very much like the roots of a great tree. The entrance is in a triangular crevice between two base "roots" over the large double doors is a large carving of an eye with a red gem or glass globe as the iris.
Sparhawk, accepting Bjorn's suggestion, smiles and advances to the door. With his gauntleted closed fist, he gives three firm (and somewhat overly loud) knocks on the door.
They had reached the Arcane Host Tower and there had been no real attempt to stop them, which left Sorsha with some suspicion over why they were paid to deliver this letter. A lot could still happen before the letter was delivered though she thought. As Sparhawk marches up to the tower entrance Sorsha follows closely to handle the talking.
Vars also follows closely, eyeing the red eyes on the door warily. Though, he is still convinced that as long as no one knows their real reason for seeking out Irongrass, they should be fine.
Eberk bringing up the rear and speaking to Frangipani, "And that's why we need to be careful at this wizard tower." A bright flash of red light draws his attention to the group.

"Is there anything to suggest right now that we would have a problem getting to see this Irongrass?" Sorsha asks as they near the Host Tower.
"Ah! Clever indeed. After all, the poster listed no specific reward." Bjorn looks over Vars with newfound appreciation. "What say you, captain?"
"Though, it looks like there are two bridges between us and the tower. I hope they don't expect two tolls."

"I agree with that." said that Paladin, smiling as the plan came together.

( I will post an illustration when I get off work)
"Hm." Bjorn stares up at the gem, reflexively trying to estimate its weight.
"Should we... Knock?"
Sparhawk, accepting Bjorn's suggestion, smiles and advances to the door. With his gauntleted closed fist, he gives three firm (and somewhat overly loud) knocks on the door.
Sparhawk advances towards the door to knock and the eye lights up, bathing him in a cone of red light.
( sparhawk make a strength saving throw DC17)

Let me know if I did this one right, d20+4? for strength bonus?
(He's not the most intelligent in this group!)

Frangipani knows nothing of wizards so simply follows in silence, eyes and ears drinking in the sights and sounds.
(Did you use the thread dice roller? Because I can’t see the roll info. But, yes it would be the d20 + your modifier)
Here is what the tower looks like during the daytime. I redesigned it.
