Backstory: Trask Aldor is many things, none of them could be called ‘compassionate’. As a servant of the Raven Queen, albeit a lower one, his compassion is the least of his concerns. He is given a duty to retrieve souls for her, and he does, so when he and a few other Shadar-Kai were sent to retrieve several souls from a desert kingdom with a strange underground temple, he aspired to do the job with the same fervor as always - but he didn’t anticipate being roped into the kingdom’s affairs and asked by the king to assist in stopping the threat. His initial response was a resounding “No”, but the other Shadar-Kai pushed him, giving a simple notion of “Think of the souls to be collected for our Queen. This conflict may be worth investigating, especially if undead are involved in the disappearance of the ones sent before us.” Trask sighed, and met the king’s request with something akin to fervor. “I’ll do it, no payment necessary.. just tell me who to kill.”
Trask is a Shadar-Kai from the gloomy plane of the Shadowfell, as such he is mostly devoid of emotion, preferring to save emotions for when they are needed - doing his job. The emotion he shows most is irritation with others, who let their emotions cloud their judgement when dealing with death or life. As an agent of the Raven Queen, he seeks guidance from his goddess often - the only one he shows emotion or reverence to.
Trask, like most Shadar-Kai, wears dark clothing and a mask covering his face, made of bone. The only thing showing from behind it are his haunting Onyx eyes.
Trask, though a Cleric, focuses more on offensive spells - the easiest way to collect souls - and when spell slots run out, resorts to using his mace to bash skulls. He can be useful in frontline or rearguard positions due to this.
He may be edgy but he is precious baby
Great story. This is different from the normal story of "hero comes willingly to help", and I am considering this one.

If I haven’t offended you, don’t worry. I’m sure I’ll get to you eventually.
Backstory. What is your story? He was born at a very young age. (Just kidding. Just quoting the entire backstory of the character of one of my favorites players in a home game.) Well…he’s no stranger to hardship. He grew up in a farming/ranching family that moved around a few times. At the age of six, he broke his arms three times within six months, one of which was healed in a blessing from a priest. Fast forward five years, his family has moved. He started to become lethargic and disinterested in life and really everything. He was coming down with what we now know as T1D. Once again, he was healed with another priest’s blessing. After that, his interest was sparked in religion and helping others. A good bit of the time that he wasn’t working he was studying religious books and things. Now, at the age of 18, he’s left home to try to help and heal people.
How did you find out about the Pearl Defenders?: He’d traveled to the pearl village as he was going around trying to help people when he heard of the problems that were happening and decided to look into it.
What time zone are you in?; mountain
Optional Info:
Your character's personality.: he’s a nice person. Kinda funny, got a dry sense of humor. He likes to read, and he enjoys helping people. He can get a bit frustrated and defensive at times, but he does his best to not do so. Even on a rough day he won’t (or can’t?) turn down someone asking for a favor.
Your main attack style. Weapons, tactics, etc. He’ll mainly focus on healing, but he’ll carry around an attack cantrip, a mace, and inflict wounds.
Also whatever you'd like to add…he’s a bit of a self insert, with a few changes. Donuts are wonderful, but very bad for diabetics.
And also how often you can post. A bunch.

Nice. Good story.
Also, I love the "He was born at a very young age." part, that was hilarious.
Seems unlikely Zwer will be chosen for this adventure, and admittedly didn't have much time over the weekend to work on my background ... but here we go abilities!
Ability scores: 9131113147
Well if you want you can update him, and maybe increase your chances.
Added some more background and character sheet to my original post:
Name: Zwer Race: Dragonborn Class: Monk Backstory: Legends of the desert temple are well known to the monks of Northgate Abbey. When the news of the king’s mission reached the abbey, the abbot chose Zwer as his official delegate. Zwer wasn’t sure if this was due to his success at learning the harsh disciplines of his order, or punishment for having been caught sneaking out of the abbey at night to explore the nearby countryside.
The night before he was to leave, Zwer rose again in the wee hours… this time not to secretly scale the wall to the outside, but to wander the abbey gardens lost deep in thought. At last stopping before the moss-encrusted and weather worn statue of Morrigan, he sat cross-legged on the cold cobblestones and prayed.Prayed for strength. And clarity.
Was this truly his path?Father had sent him here to teach him discipline and the ways of combat, and so he had.Learned much at least. But so much more to learn. And so much to life than just the way of the warrior.Yet the common people needed warriors to defend them.He heaved a heavy sigh and stretched out to lay his forehead on the smooth stone below. How much time passed as he lay there he didn’t know, but suddenly Zwer noted the unmistakable distant sound of thunder rumbling from the mountains to the south.
Slowly coming to his knees as he looked to the southern mountain peaks, softly aglow in the first shimmer of the dawn, he saw in an instant a flash of lightning strike behind the highest crest. The electrical energy that he often felt coursing through his limbs quivered as he widened his stance and threw his head back, trembling as he let out a crackling blue bolt of his own towards the sky above. This he thought… must be a sign.
Optional Info:
Personality: Quiet, curious to learn new things Main attack style: Martial arts hand to hand combat and quarter staff
How often you can post: Daily most days but also sometimes like to take a break, so 5-7 days/week
Edit: Looks like rain's also a tank. oooooooooooooooooooooooooooops.
Rain cocks his head to the side curiously and says, "What's a tank?" He squints his golden eyes, wondering whether Ghurk is insulting him.
Aside: Rain is no barbarian, and I don't really think of him as a tank. I actually built a Goliath barbarian first, and he was a tank (15 max HP, AC15, resistance to most melee damage while raging, and stone's endurance 1/SR). But then I saw Ghurk and Kronk, so I decided to switch to my idea for a fast striker. Rain would prefer to ambush / surprise the enemy or try to get initiative once the fight starts. Rain's basic plan is to hit as often as possible as early early as possible and try to eliminate the threat before it has a chance to score many hits of its own. Depending on the party, he'll probably take the Two-Weapon Fighting style at Lvl2 so that he has two chances for 1d6+4 each round (2d6+4 if he has Hunter's Mark). But Rain knows that he won't survive long in a melee without the help of his party!
Speaking as someone who has over-commits himself frequently, I'd recommend that you start one group and see how it goes. If you're feeling like you have a lot of time to spare, and you'd like to start a second group, you could always contact the next party in line to see whether they're still interested. That way, you'll already have a few weeks of the first group under your belt and have a better sense of how much of a time commitment it is. And if you decide to start a second group, you'll already have some "lessons learned" from the first few weeks of the first group. It might also help you to keep the two campaigns separate in your head since the staggered start should ensure that they're not normally at the same part of the adventure at the same time.

Orc side being his blacksmith father, Mardor grew up fascinated with weapons. Since the uptick in monsters, His father's forge became very busy. A jealous rival started rumors of how Orcs have caused the changes in Pearl Village, and since then he and his father have been shunned, and his mother left to not be associated with the prejudice. How better to prove his worth by being a Pearl Defender and wielding his father's weapons?
PST
Wields two hand-axes. His father doesn't make armor, so he came with none. How would it seem if an Orc stopped the calamity with human gear? Mardor is actually decently smart, able to use simple use of the environment like cliffs and boulders. Still primarily fights by raging.
Appearance:5" tall, weighing 150 pounds. Built broad, with shoulders like shovels and a stomach the shape and size of a shield. Pale skin, red hair, black eyes.
Personality:Not exactly a people person. Honest to a fault, straightforward, loyal. Stands up to blatant injustice, but will pass by minor things like beggars and toll fees.
Voice:Rough and deep. His default tone could be considered intimdating.
Favorite donut would definitely be a asking for a bagel instead. More macho.
I think I could post around 4 times a day, but I'm not sure. By the way, I'm new to DnD. I'm trying to learn the rules, but be patient. Thanks!

You deserve it. From the couple peeks you’ve given us you have evidently put a lot of work into this. And I say that as a fellow DM, not someone trying to butter you up so that you pick me.
Great story. This is different from the normal story of "hero comes willingly to help", and I am considering this one.

Thanks! I can't promise to spend that much time on each of my posts, but I'm sure that everyone reading the thread will appreciate that. ;-)
I generated the stats on D&D Beyond's character builder. I didn't realize that this forum had a dice-roller!
I'll have to give that a try:
Sample Initiative roll: 19
Attack: 22 Damage: Unable to parse dice roll.
Bonus action (off-hand): 22 Damage: Unable to parse dice roll.
Updated to say: Hm. The dice roller button seems to be generating invalid roll syntax. :-/
Attack: 14 Damage: Unable to parse dice roll.
Nice. Good story.
