She takes notice of Crush's wounds, and is really hesitant, but Byron says to her "It's true, Mom! They saved us!" and she relents and lets Crush and Veryes into her home. She's not sure about the dogs though. 

Veryes will offer her head to Crush as a crutch and put an arm around his leg leading him inside. She will whisper back to the others "Maybe let me get Crush settled and then we can all make our way in?"

To the Mom she says "So very kind of you! Thank you! Those are quite the boys you have there. Very Brave!"

Usul has followed along, knowing even the side streets decently well in this city. He's definitely kept his dog in as much check as is possible. He's also got a bit of interest in the magical arts, though nothing formal yet. At some point will go up to Sen and say "So how do you learn those spells anyway? I once met a mage... he was... well understanding, and tried to teach me a bit, but I haven't quite got it yet."

Oh, it's book learning and copying texts and doing incantations - the pronunciation has to be exactly right, you see, and there are sounds that no-one would normally produce.  Sen grimaces.  Really, it's years and years of nothing much happening at all, and then suddenly, things start to come together a bit.  There's still not a whole lot I can do, though.  He thinks for a moment.  And it's not the same for everyone.  Some people just have a natural talent, of course.  But for others, it comes when they get good with other skills, non-magical ones.  Like swordplay, for example.  A lot of it is just about learning to focus the mind.  He trails off, surprised at his own enthusiasm for the subject, and finding he missed having a chance to talk about it with others.

"ahhh" Usul will respond, understanding, mostly, though not quite getting all the nuance "Well I've always been able to do things like this" casting minor illusion to appear like a chair just behind him. "The wizard I met said I could do more with study.... Maybe with a bit more time..."

Sen nods ruefully.  It took me three years to learn just that.  It's a gnome thing, right?  Sen looks around to see if anyone's watching: Perception: 6 

(Has the whole party crammed itself into the little house, or are Sen and Usul standing around in the street outside?)

Ooc: I think so far only me and crush are inside hoping to smooth the way for the others to come in

Aria will stand outside the doorway and almost serve as lookout to make sure that the group wasn't followed. She's always cautious. She takes a piece of cloth from her backpack and wraps it around the wound she received from the ravens. 

Crush and Veryes are in the house, Aria is taking up watch on the outside. No one sees anything to suggest they may have been followed or are watching them with anything more than a passing interest. Usul and Alexandra are able to distract their dogs from bounding into the house to explore by playing with them and distracting them on the street outside, engaging in a friendly tug-of-war with what's left of the bones they were given earlier - nothing too aggressive, though, since the dogs are being very protective of their new treasures.

Inside the home, Byron and Barrett get to work unpacking the food they brought from the market and preparing it for tonight's meal, while their mother brings a first aid kit to Crush but isn't really sure how to administer it to him, in part because he's so much bigger than she is, and in part because much of her supplies are meant for mending the everyday cuts and scrapes of two rowdy human boys. 

"What happened to them? Are they in any...trouble? And what's this about Anna Kelver? I recognize her name, I think she's helped out around the neighborhood with odds jobs here and there..."

Alexandra will keep an eye out too. To no one in particular she says, "Ah've a bad feelin' about this mess we've gott'n ourselves'n. Somethin' dunnae sit right." perception : 3

Veryes looking for a chair to settle Crush into "Well Mam, my friends and I just happened by your boys getting harassed by a couple thugs on their way to the market. One thing I can't tolerate is young folks getting harassed like that so we all jumped in to stop the thugs. They're not in any trouble. As I said they were very brave!"

"We are looking to find Anna. It's been reported that shes missing and by chance or fate after saving your boys we found that they knew her. They were eager to help find her when they found out she was missing but we thought bringing them back home would be best. And then we could ask them some questions about her."

"You say she was doing odd jobs around? Do you know any of the jobs she was doing or who she was doing them for?"

"Men try take kids money, we stop men, watch kids get food, bring kids home...." The large grayish green orc would say as the woman tends to his wounds "Kids help find Anna" Crush would say as his large head moves from the woman to the two boys. The chair he is sitting in would let out a loud creak as he shifts his body. "You know where Anna stay?" Crush would ask the woman as his large head moves back to her.

If no-one is watching, Sen will use Minor Illusion to create a similar, but slightly more ornate and expensive-looking chair next to Usul's.  If the gnome is willing, they will engage in a competition of illusory chair design, each chair gaudier and less practical than the last.

She says, "She was never anyplace permanently, just here or there...I never hired her, I never had need or coin to, you understand - she would sometimes help out some of the washer woman, couriering their laundry deliveries back and forth... Sometimes she would help babysit for some of the families with lots of kids, setting up a little school to try to teach them their letters and numbers wherever she could... You say she's gone missing? Are you sure she didn't just decide to get out of here?"

Aria peeks her head into the doorway and asks Is that something she's known to do?  She smiles and waves to the mother

The woman looks at Aria and shrugs. "It's Waterdeep. There's not many reasons for a young woman like her to stay in one place too long."

Usul will look up from his pup to add "We've only word that she was missing by a mysterious armored man with a more mysterious patron. After we find out where she may have gone we need to find out why those who sent us did so. There is certainly more to her disappearance than meets the eye."
