Fire bolt- Shoot a streaking ball of fire towards a foe and deal a measly 1d10 fire damage. Use eldritch blast instead.
Fireball - Drawing magic from your inner reserves, you unleash a devastating nuke that explodes in a circle, hitting multiple enemies, and burning them to a crisp with a godly amount of 8d6 fire damage. Make your DM’s fights look like garbage. It’s also a nice way of TPK your entire party and have them triggered at you for the rest of the week.
I wasn't. That was just an example. But now that you've bought it up - don't you get the same advantage effect from being invisible as you get from being in darkness without the downside of not being able to use it when near your allies?

I wasn't. That was just an example. But now that you've bought it up - don't you get the same advantage effect from being invisible as you get from being in darkness without the downside of not being able to use it when near your allies?
They can be 'foiled' by different things, so they are both useful. Darkness in particular can have some tactical uses. Disadvantage to a group of people can be useful. For example, if she'd been running Darkness, she could tied her bead to an arrow and aim it at the goons behind cover. That would probably make them leave their cover. It also blocks line-of-sight abilities and spells. Sarah can also pocket her bead and keep the spell up if she doesn't want the effect. That's not the case with GI. She'd have to end the spell and then spend an action to bring it back up.

Cover is one of the few things in the game that gives a straight bonus. If it was disadvantage that would cancel out your advantage from invisibility and therefor no sneak damage.
OOC- so does Thomas get his advantage from invisible against the cover bonus? I didn't roll advantage that last time, but I will from now on, if that's true.

This is an annoying error that occurs periodically. Usually you can get the dice rolls to show properly just by putting a space next to (not in, next to) one of the formulas
