"I think then I may have a solution to your quandaries," Hatch replied. "First the buffet, at least for a few days, could be resolved with work. I know that the cellar has a terrible spider problem and that helping us to resolve it will put you in the good graces of our esteemed Willagee. From there you can better negotiate a continuing buffet per odd jobs basis."

But Hatch wasn't done yet.

"For authoritative leadership, will a genie sultan do? For we have one who just so happens to be looking for followers to lead, and doesn't much mind where he stays as long as he may be pampered in a nice surrounding. However the pool as it is now will never do. Clean the pool as good if not better than it was when you first arrived, help us kill the spiders for Willagee, and leadership and food will be sure to follow. Is this proposition agreeable to you and your party?"

Lia opens her mouth, and then closes it again, having nothing to add to Hatch's deal. She simply nods and smiles.

The well-spoken troglodyte looks to his two lieutenants who both grunt an acknowledgement in the affirmative. Rossmoyne then turns back and says: How fortuitous! We would be honored to serve this sultan and bask in his authority, and will do as you recommend.

"Thank ya, my halfling friend. Me name be Thoradin Barrelstone," dropping his bags off to the side of the entrance "Willagee be it? In need of sumpin' stout for drinkin', also a room,  one wit some open floor space and a table or desk, be that possible? I hear dem' o'er there be talking bout spiders, back home we had some dem nasties that needed stompin', I'd be happy to help clear dem out though spiders is how I lost me eye! If ya don't need help on dat, there be anyone who could use a hand here?" (Thoradin increases his volume on this last part so that anyone in the main lobby could hear him clearly).

Pulling out a large coin with the words "Present or Drink" Thoradin slaps it down on the bar, "Anyone wanna drink? I'll buy 4 rounds of the strongest stuff dis bar do have, for 4 people, including myself. You best me at it you get my respect and 50 gp." (Contested Con Saves against each other, highest roll wins and gets a point, most points wins the game, ties with Thoradin go to Thoradin. For each drink finished you get a minus 1 to your roll as does Thoradin. Thoradin drinks against each member individually so will rack up more minus modifiers then the other contestants)

(Hatch, Lia, Throm and Lok hear Thoradin's offer and challenge when they enter the lobby after speaking with the troglodytes.)

Throm overhears the challenge and a wry smile unconsciously takes hold of his face.

”What do you all think? Here is someone else looking to BUY ...”

Hatch shook his head no at the offer of a drinking challenge. "First and last time I took to drink, I woke up to find myself trapped in this cursed place, I don't think I'll drink again till long after I'm free from here," the tiefling said.

OOC: Guess we just give it some in game time for the Trogs to clean the pool and be ready to help clear the spiders?

 "I think that's not the solution to this part of the riddle and therefore not helpful," Hatch answered bluntly.

Grinning at Throm, he turned to this new dwarven figure

"I cant say no to a free drink." Lok chuckled, stepping up to Thoradin

"And that 50 gp will be mine as well." The barbarian added smugly.  

Thoradin Grins: "C'mon drinkin' never hurt no one, plus it sounds like y'all could use a break. I will drink the first n' show ya sum good fait'." Grabbing the pint Thoradin slams it back in one large gulp. "Good luck all"

(Yeah I'd say CON ability roll is most appropriate, especially if contested. I don't think you ever do a contested saving throw. But then this is Thoradin's game, and if you accept his terms, then I say continue, and yes you can benefit from Hatch's ability...)

Throm slams the glass back on the counter and involuntarily shakes his head and exhales what feels like acid vapor.

”Woooo, that’ll clear the cobwebs.”

OOC: based on Thoradin’s challenge and Hatch’s proximity, Throm’s save was 22.

The front door of the hotel swings open with force. Before you, stands a massive Goliath, tattooed from head to toe in what seems to be tribal accolades. He adorns bear hide pants fur and all, no shirt and no shoes. Ducking through the doorway, he drags his great club behind him and the pungent odor of dead animals and spoiled meats spreads throughout the room. 

Me tired. Me want ale. Me go to sleep. Me see you drink. Me like drink. Me have drink with you. Me name Lawless. Me join game.

Lawless, saunters over to counter where dwarf (Thoradin) is drinking. 

OOC: Let’s see if I understand the rules to the game. Thoradin is buying 4 rounds of drinks. A round is a one on one contest with Thoradin. Round 1 went to Thoradin. Thoradin has 1 point and both he and Lok now will have -1 on their saves going forward into a subsequent round. I began round 2 and am awaiting Thoradin’s save.  If I win, I will have 1 point and -1 for a subsequent round, whereas Thoradin will be -2. If Lawless begins round 3 and wins, then 3 of us will have 1 point with only one round to decide the winner, either Thoradin (-3) vs. me (-1) or Thoradin (-3) vs. Lawless (-1) . If Lawless loses, then Thoradin will have 2 points and round 4 would be pointless, because the best that could happen is I win and tie Thoradin, which would be his win per his rules. It wouldn’t be totally pointless, because someone will still get a free drink.

OOC: I think we all have to drink 4 drinks against thoradin... He will be at -12 by the end of the game.
