“We got coal, torches, straw, rope. Anybody got oil? Wax? I’m thinking incendiary devices and the fact that that monstrosity is pretty hairy. If we can come up with enough ... also tie something that burns to arrows. Set up some sharpened stakes in the ground and bait that thing into charging and run over them, they would be concealed of course, it’s weight will serve to stab them into itself.” Vrajitor sounds very determined.

"lamp oil we have," Says Sandow. "That's not a bad idea at all. Getting the oil onto the furry beast might be an issue as we'd have to get close. It also seems to have more than a small amount of intelligence as well, we should beware of that. Did you see it mourning over the dead wolves?"
“Yes, which is why I think we can get it to charge me, I am fairly fast so if we can plant the spikes unseen, between the structure and the trees. Make sure they are well concealed.”

Alaric, lying facedown on the ground, will open his eyes and slowly (painfully) turn his head to view his surroundings.
Alaric is in the huge room he is terribly cold, wet all over and smells like honey wine. he hears a voice. softly calling his name. the voice is full and deep yet soft. he slowly realizes that its Belthran. belthran is in a huge cage.trapped in there by the huge barrels Alaric remembers trying to climb. suddenly he remembers the Mammoth and looks around too fast causing his head to spin a bit. But the Mammoth is nowhere to be seen.
Alaric will get up and try to make as little noise as possible and he will pick up his pistol if he can find it. Then he'll make his way to Belthran.
Alaric finds his pistol. the weapon needs to be thoroughly cleaned. it's unusable at the moment. he is able to see and speak to the bard, but the barrels in front of the cage door are going to be a heavy project that Alaric may just notwant to tackle at the moment.
Alaric will go to a place where there are no barrels blocking the cage and will inspect the metal bars. Since he is a blacksmith does he notice any flaws in the metal? Any warping or pitting in specific areas? Any weak areas he can exploit?
He will also whisper to belthran "Come over here but stand back a little."

unfortunately he finds the work crude, but efficient to get the job done.
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Vor will slowly chew the ration and sip the tea as he thinks on the events he can recall. What was real, what was dream; apparently he did fall in defeat. He must find his axe as soon as possible, but recovery and helping his mates would come first - he is in no shape for much action at the moment.
Belthran comes towards Alaric. "Good to hear you're still alive, I wasn't sure for a bit there. I don't know if the others got away. I've not seen the mammoth for awhile either", he whispers.
Vrajitor will prepare torches for the coming contest. He will have someone smash up some coal to powder, one to take any cloth, like a coal sack (which would be good as it is already impregnated with coal oils and dust), another to shred some hay, mix the coal dust and hay, Cut short pieces of rope (~2 ft), unravel them and produce twine. Lay out the cloth (~1 sq ft), put in some of the mixture, lay a torch on it so the burning end of it just sticks above the cloth, roll it up and tie both edges to the torch. Next, get some twigs and trim them so they are kinda like fish hooks, then tie three or four to each torch in such a way as to snag on the long, matted fur (hopefully, as there does not seem to be anyone who does mammoth coiffures around).
"How many arrows do we have? Is there a working bow?"
He will also see if small saplings can be found that split into 3 or 4 branches, sort of like a 3-dimensional Y; he will sharpen all 3 or 4 ends, making crude, oversized caltrops - as many as possible.
"My idea is to get the thing to chase me, towards the woods, into a caltrop field, all the while throwing as many snagging, burning things into it's fur. Flaming arrows would be a bonus. Then you two," he points to the man and woman, " could sneak into the building and see about rescuing our friends. I know this is a lot to ask, but it must be done. If you wait sixty or so feet to one side of us, when you hear and see us trying to light up that beast, off you go as quiet as possible. Take a crowbar, knife and what ever else you think might help free them."
He looks at everyone and shrugs. "I am not trying to ramrod everyone, but its a plan I think has a decent chance of working. I an open to suggestions, or a better plan,"
"Well hopefully they did get away. We need to get you out of there. Stand back my friend this may be able to free you."
Alaric will reach into his bag of holding and produce a vial of acid and then pour it on the metal. He'll try to focus it on an area where theres more signs of wear.
Sandow offers up the last of his arrows to be made into fire-arrows (10 of them). "I'm all in on this plan. I had no hope that Herne was still alive, yet here he is. I won't make that mistake again where companions are concerned. As I understand it, we are breaking up our force into three groups? One to distract and lead the mammoth to the wood line, one to trap and burn the mammoth, and our stout 'civilians' here are to check for our friends while the beast is distracted? I'm a fleet runner, but I feel my aim with this bow is going to be a greater help, so it's to the woodline for me?"
Belthran hugs Alaric with delight. "I shall compose a tale of your ingenuity!", he exclaims. "Now, how to escape without drawing the beast's attention?"
"Could it be as easy as going through the front door?" Alaric asks Belthran.
Alaric looks around and points out the items left by his companions that are scattered across the floor. "Maybe we should gather some of their belongings on our way out. Im sure they didn't leave it by choice."
Alaric hears the familiars voice in his head. "It's waiting." then slinking from the hallway the Nobleman and Bard see the snow white cat enter the room. the familiar looks at Alaric. "it probably thinks the others are going to try to rescue the goliath." the cat tilts its head staring at Alaric. "I honestly think it doesn't even know youre here."
"Vrajitor and Sandow - thank you for saving me I owe you my life. I think the plan is sound and will do my part, but I may be able to get its attention if I use a power gifted to me by my mother's teachings - I can shake the earth. If it doesn't fall down, it will at least have to maintain balance and could perhaps be enticed to chase and kill me for the attempt."

With a fire and a bit of food and water the Genasi begins to stir. he is now conscious and able to eat a bit and drink some tea.

The acid sizzles and smokes but after a few minutes
enough of the cage is ruined to allow the Bard to slip out. WELL DONE!
