I own (i.e. I PAID FOR) all of the 5e content and I'm playing in a 5e campaign. I don't own (or want) any of the new stuff right now. I'm trying to make a backup character and it's a truly awful experience. I couldn't readily locate the "legacy" class features in the sources by going to Game Rules > Classes, but found them without a ton of difficulty... but now I can't select The Great Old One as a warlock patreon?? What's going on? I purchased this content and expect to be able to continue to use it with ease even though you're excited about some new stuff. Or refund me the money I've spent over the years on digital rules/books if you're not going to continue to support them adequately. The new DMG and MM aren't even out yet and you're trying to force people to a new system that isn't ready. Bad business. Give me a toggle on the campaign or character sheet to disable the new rules, or at least something that doesn't break existing campaigns.
Thanks! I guess my rant was only partially warranted. They made the "fully fleshed out" rules second-class citizens and I'm not sure how I was supposed to know that I needed to scroll past warlock and select warlock lower down on the page. In my opinion, it would make it easier / more clear for users (who just want play the game and not study forums) experiencing these changes if it listed all the options in order, so right after Warlock (2024) you saw Warlock (2014) or whatever. There's enough to know about the D&D rules without requiring people to also know new DDB usage rules... there I go ranting more, so anyhow:
Thanks again for the reply that solved my issue (I hope)!

Agreed that it could be better, though I think communication is the only major issue here. The site is primarily for the most up-to-date options for 5th edition D&D, so putting it front and center isn't actually an issue. But there's no need for them to remove support for the 2014 ruleset entirely, and more could be done to help guide players through using either as they please.
Things that should be done by WotC on this front: -A clear indicator of where everything is in the builder in the form of updated tooltips (for instance, a tooltip on the Legacy toggle telling what's covered by it and where to find the contents) -A toggle on the character sheet or builder that allows you to call on the 2014 tooltips instead of 2024 tooltips across your sheet -A legally-binding guarantee that we'll never lose the 2014 features we've paid for in the builder
Cannot seem to choose Leather Working (not visible in the selector) as a tool set for any background or character.
Which specific selection are you talking about? There are lots of different places where you can select a tool. It seems to work fine for me when selecting a tool proficiency for the Artisan background, for instance.
When using a Custom Background in the builder, based on Farmer. Trying to create a TEAMSTER—a person who drives wagons, loading and unloading heavy goods, such as hay bales, furniture, boulders, etcetera. This TEAMSTER would need to know LEATHERWORK to repair harness, and possibly CARPENTRY to repair portions of the wagon, such as the truck or wheels.
I understand that the Custom Background builder hasn't been completed, but if all the other 'tools' are listed, why not Leatherworking Tools?
When will Tasha's optional features be enabled for 2024 classes? Not every class had their optional features reprinted in the 2024 PHB, therefore Tasha's options should be valid for those.
I wanna echo this point. The guidance has been that 2014 options are still viable unless specifically updated and reprinted. The Adventure League character creation options even specifically stated the following:
* If a rules option appears in a previously published sourcebook such as Tasha’s Cauldron of Everything or Xanathar’s Guide to Everything and was updated in the 2024 rules, use the updated rules.
* If a rules option appears in a previously published sourcebook and has not been updated in the 2024 rules, continue to use the most recently published version of that option.
IMO, this specifically indicates that Tasha's optional class features are still viable options. Otherwise an official ruling statement needs to be released to clarify & contradict this.

Features belong to a class. That includes optional features. The 2014 class is replaced with the 2024 class, meaning all of its features are replaced.
The rules options featured in those books that aren't replaced are some subclasses, feats, spells, and items. Optional class features were replaced as part of the old classes.

Which optional class features do you believe should still be options for 2024 classes?
A lot of the Tasha optional features interact with features that are no longer part of the 2024 classes, or that have been implemented directly to the class itself in 2024.
Guys... seriously. When are the third-party subclasses going to be available to choose for the new 2024 subclasses?
I bought several third-party books (like Critical Role and Book of Ebon Tides) a week before the big site update. Now I cant even really use these new products together with each other.
Can we please get third party content supported with the new updates to the classes? Its been several weeks now!

The whole "working with our partners" thing has told us something significant: It's not just a technical thing holding the subclasses back. Since the races are fully selectable when using the 2024 classes, and the homebrewer fully works with the features within the books, it's gotta be something like a licensing issue. So this one may not be entirely on WotC.
I'm 6 subclasses away from having every single one moved to the 2024 classes via homebrew. Opened a copy on one screen, opened a fresh subclass on the other for the updated class, and copied everything perfectly. All I've updated is a few tags (such as [spell] to [spells] to call the updated spells) and updating any level 1 or 2 abilities to level 3.
Can confirm. Just updated a stat block of mine and using the [spells ][/spells ] tags works to reflect the 2024 spells in the block. (Don't include the spaces within the brackets, that's to make them show up.)
I've done this for a couple of monsters, and if I look at them in my list of creations they show the 2024 spells, but when I use them in the encounter builder, they link to 2014 spells. Do they do this for you as well?
These were 2014 monsters I updated just in respect of giving them 2024 spells instead of 2014.

I've never found the encounter builder useful enough to use. I do all my encounter planning in Word documents.
The new version of Thunderwave spell doesn't have the Armorer Artificer tag, and I can't select it for my Armorer Artificer in the character builder.
Artificer subclass spells aren't updated to 2024 yet. A Homebrew copy of the subclass where you replace the Known Spells with the updated versions fixes the issue. No other change required.
Might want to add that Leatherworker Tools is not selectable as an Artisan Tool in the Character Builder.

just a bad decision to force the new, incomplete and buggy rules on the players.
Ignoring the fact that people BEGGED for the 2014 stuff to stay wherever possible is dishonest.
