The town of wayward is defended by the spirits of dead warriors. I assume most people become spirits and only a few spirits are active at a time in a given area.
We should probably sort this out now. Do mortals become spirits when they die?
Presumably given that wayward worships ones spawned from the dead.Though given spirits are mostly that of nature or the mind the spirit would likely work slightly different then a basic ghost. They would become a minor spirit (represented with a mephit or 1st level living spell) based off their personality (a hot headed person is likely to be reborn as a fire spirit) and place of death and birth. They may also lose their memories. To through some classic deity based afterlife,if one worships a singular spirit or god,They will become the type of spirit associated with such being.

I agree with this interpretation. Dead mortals (with the notable exception of the Spiraca) become the appropriate minor spirit upon death.
As part of a strange experiment to make more unusual dragon types,The mad five who originally created dragons decided to use spirits from the plane of abberations for the creation of a dragon. As such,They invaded the plane and slew 30 mind flayers. They then injected the creatures cerebral fluid into turtles and waited.Over time the turtles grew large and bulky their shells became massive tumors with great tentacles and they could breath the powerful mind blast of a mind flayer. These are the Tumor dragons.
When these strange beasts slay someone they do not become a spirit, and dragon gains a split personality similar to that of it's prey. While highly capable of thought,These creatures considers feeding(aka removing peoples brains) a high priority and cares little for what lesser creatures think. Aberrations gain some level of respect from the beings as does anyone who saves and survives their mind blast. They love learning new things and regard as a secondary goal as to feeding(though feeding often gives a bit of knowledge given their food source)
this is how I think spirits work. they interact with the world through their aspect, through their effects on mortals and for more powerful spirits by forming a shell or possessing someone. Most spirits are in a dormant state with a few active ones. Their aspect is what they represent, a tree, part of a river, rage, they have power over it, a river spirit can make it's waters go faster or slower, a tree spirit can make fruit. Spirits can share/cause emotions with mortals most of the time it's very weak. Shells are made of their aspect and it's hard to hold together.
If a group of spirits get very impassioned then a slyphstorm can happen, a slyphstorm is when all the dormant spirits are awaken and working toward a goal. It's very hard to make one but when it's made Kingdoms have fallen. If one doubts this then look to the ruins of high moor.
Held at wayward's feast of honor, the epic telling competition is mostly friendly tale telling competition. Many of the tales told of are those war or related to the blood festival.Every year the winner is gifted the tale teller from it's current owner. This silver and gold longsword set with an amethyst is a powerful bard.In combat it sings with the every strike of the blade and empowers the user to heights of heroic power.Out of combat it aid in the wielders tales and sings subtle notes of power.
Ouside the bounds of the material lies 4 planes. These 4 planes are tied to fall, winter, spring and summer. They represent what humans in the real world would think off these seasons,And are suffused with powerful emotion (winter is tied to feelings of sadness and gloom, fall those of hope, giving yet also those of decay.Summer represents anger or amazement.Spring represents growth and change) The planes link to places that create these emotions.
One of the mad five was cursed to forever wander these lands. In each attempt at escape the plane seeps into the land bringing the seasons as we know it.
Fall with the proper name Marasmós (greek for wilting) is primarily a vast forest. The trees leaves stained a rainbow of hues,The ground soft and covered in a layer of crunchy leaves. The place always gives the mood that it is falling apart and for some reason people are far kinder here. The weather is cold and windy with a constant gale running through the forest.Common enemies here are treants and air elementals. The most common hazards are strong winds and poison coated leaves.Hidden in the plane is a castle surrounded by spirits of chaos in which lives a lich. The castle holds a portal to summer, winter and spring.
Winter or tobhta(Scottish Gaelic for ruined) is mostly a snowy wasteland. The land is littered with ruins of stone and snow, dotted with villages made from igloos. The plane weakens fire (gives resistance to fire damage and makes fire damage dealing spells cost a spell slot of one level higher) and is constantly full of cold (if you not within 15ft of a large fire during a long rest you take 1d8 cold damage and the area hosts extreme cold). The land always gives a wave of hopelessness Admist wonder of what was lost.Snow, cold and wind are deadly threats in these lands as are stone golems and the heartless Neadoab a cold resistant race that lives on the plane. In the center of the plane lies a ruined castle that links to fall and the negative energy plane.
The vast majority of majority of spring or anthízo(greek for bloom) is a open field. The entire field is full of flowers including poppies.Pollen fills the air (forces concentration saves every minute if concentrating) and healing is empowered here (doubles hit points regained). The plane gives feelings of happiness, hope, and energy.Pollen and poisonous flowers are notable threats, animated brush, giant insects and bulletes are common foes.A species of sentient flowers wander across the fields collecting pollen they known as the florens. In the center of the plane is a giant tree with an elven village. This tree links to summer, winter and fall.
The plane of summer or terpesona (Indonesian for awestruck) is a lightly forested mountain range. The mountains extend into the often stormy sky dotted with trees taller then any tree on the material plane.Rain and storms are common and deadly with, the inbetween weather being hot and dry. When not a storm the plane is subject to extreme heat.Common hazards include heat, storms, falling tree's and falling.Common foes include towering treants, and various elementals (espically air and fire). The center of the plane is host to a giant crystaline mountain covered in the roots, vines and branches of hundreds of plants. The mountain connects to fall and the positive energy plane.
a slyph is a spirit with out an aspect. Aspects help define a spirit like a spirit a tree would act different then a spirit of air which would be different then a river spirit. Slyphs tend to glide until they bind themself to something. Most people see them as the spirits version of the listless.

The Prophets of the End allied with Pòsdǔdìzayī's school of undeaths worked to turn wayward into the 3rd cataclysm. They raised an army of listless from the tomb of kings and marched westward gathering slyphs and spirits. despite their best efforts travelers from Gearcliff saw their army and raised the alarm. Thanks to their scouting, solders from the nearby towns gathered to defend. The Fang of Faerun gathered in full force as well as a small group of Windsailers from Windswept. However worry grew for Hallow’s eve was nigh
Battle was joined on the field outside Wayward. The warbound were at the height of their power but so were the Prophets. The battle that could be seen paled to what the spirits were doing for the slyphs were going to be the deciding factor. Although the Prophets had enraged what ever spirits they found Waywards spirits were all active and the prophets failed to cause a slyph storm. The battle lasted through the night and at the light of dawn the Prophets fled the field to avoid taking more Casualties.
Wayward had won but it was badly damaged, many of their warbound had died on the field but they had held the line.
The remaining Prophets scattered into the wilds and the wizards returned to their studys.
Nice to have some background on wayward, plus you brought a lot of orginizations, locations and other such info. This war is some world building gold for a 2 paragraphs.

So to work to clean this thread up I propose the following:
.All links on the map should be replaced with links to search function (the place it takes when you search this thread for the name of location)
.The first post(by jack) may include a link to a map and any other major resources
.Delete posts as part of dead arguments
