Hey. I am making simple group check event for a dungeon.
"Roof of the hallway has partly collapsed and large piece of rubble blocks the hallway. If characters try to move the rubble roll Athletics (Strength) check, DC 10. If check succeeds rubble is moved away and path to seventh room opens."
What is best way to write this for multiple characters? Idea is that strong characters can compensate lack of strength of other characters but everyone is needed to lift the rubble.
The simplest way is to increase the DC a bit, and simply. add together the check results to see if it equals or exceeds. You can also do the mean number. Alternatively, see if more than half the group's checks exceed the check DC.

I don't know, Sneet, maybe because your argument is "Submit and become our pet"?

The PHB has group checks defined as the last line of this. Further, given enough time the party is likely to clear the path, so it's simply a matter of checking how quickly the party moves the debris, unless there is the risk of further debris/a cave in. The fact that it's only a DC10 suggests that there aren't any pieces that are too heavy to move.
If this is a large single piece of rubble versus a pile that can be moved slowly over time for weaker characters, requiring a combined strength score is the way to go. For something big enough to block a passage, it might require a combined strength of 30 (or more). So if you set the combined STR score to 40, someone with 18 STR, someone with 10 STR, and someone with 12 STR can push it aside. You can give them a +5 bonus if they have something like a crowbar for leverage. Just make sure you write it in a way that it can be moved because the PCs will likely not have the means to pull a huge boulder, so allow it to be pushed aside or inward.
"Roof of the hallway has partly collapsed and large piece of rubble blocks the hallway. Piece of rubble is too heavy for one to but together characters can push it away. If characters try to move the rubble together each character rolls Athletics (Strength) check. Total DC for two characters is 24. For example if results are 15 and 9 check succeeds. If check succeeds rubble is moved away and path to seventh room opens. Characters can try only once to push the rubble."

I would note the reason why the party only has one opportunity. It doesn't have to be specific, but could be something like it settles into a groove that doesn't allow for enough inertia to develop to move it or that a weakness in the wall was revealed and water comes pouring in washing the party away. It could be a further collapse of the section happens (doesn't have to be a result of the party's efforts and could happen even on a success after the party moves into the room and blocking them in).

Hi. I wrote it like this:

Whole dungeon can be found from Frostglade Tundra campaign questbook, named "Catacombs (Level 3): https://homebrewery.naturalcrit.com/share/SyZ_4eEyKE
I've also seen rules which use collective strength score instead, such as "Moving a statue can be done, but it requires a combined Strength of 48 -"
