I have an idea for an illusion trap where my adventurers are navigating a cavern and turn a corner and there's a cavern wall there. They turn back the way they came and there's now a wall there too, they're trapped. Any ideas on how this can be solved would be greatly appreciated. I'm avoiding wizards casting it or anyone activating or deactivating it. Thanks in advance
Well the actual illusions in the trap don't need to be real spells, the trap can just function as you describe it. Trigger can be an invisible/undetectable glyph on the ground. Maybe it was left here by some Trickster God and whoever lives in this dungeon is used to it now while it remains an eternal challenge for visitors. Throw a magical rotation in there for good measure, so not only are all exits apparently blocked, but they thought they were going north and are suddenly facing a random other direction. Finally add a punishment for trying to break out by just walking through walls; d6 psychic damage from trying to shove your hand through or something. Then pick a few ability checks. Investigation to examine each wall obviously. After they pass the check then they disbelieve the illusion and it becomes transparent and harmless. Survival check to notice they have been turned around, or they'll have to repeat the whole thing. If they fail all investigations, give them some psychic damage each from the enchanted confusion of it all and let them try again. Obviously they could try other plans that you could reward or punish accordingly: dispel or detect magic, throwing things at walls (which tend to re-enter the room from an unexpected angle and hit them in the head), truesight or scrying, barbarian rage his way through the wall, who knows what they might try - let them have fun.

Glyph of warding, perhaps?
