Fellow DMs! So, I have a player who got flight recently, which means they're starting to fly up every other fight. That's totally fine by me, not the issue here. However, we're using minis, and when they fly up and end up above another character or a monster, it's always sort of awkward, and the battle mat situation ends up being inaccurate.
What do you use to put minis up in the air? I've been trying to find the things Matt Mercer uses in CR, but I don't quite know what to type and for the life of me I can't find anything like it.
You're looking for combat risers or something similar.

The clear plastic boxes dice come in can work really well. Or if you’re good at crafting, you can throw something together with some dowel rods. And little pieces of paper where you can write their altitude work for either.
I put a die next to the miniature set on a number representing it's altitude, or i write it down if multiple creatures are superposing and the map gets crowded.
You can make your own really easily, toilet roll tube, seal
one end with tape (this will be the bottom) fill it with toilet paper to add strength and then tape a bit if card the other end. I have cut several to different lengths to signify different heights.

I used to do this but the dice kept getting moved or rolled or cleaned up after dice being rolled lol,
