With the Storm King's Thunder campaign I've running, I've changed the ending slightly with a new villain I've had appear throughout the game. Instead of the party and the storm giants coming to the Iymrith's Dragon Lair to kill her, they are instead walking into a trap set up by this villain. The idea is I want a ritual to take place where the this villain (a drow) absorbs the power and essence of the Storm King. The large desert ampitheatre has been converted into a giant rune circle with obelisks around the outside. Basically some huge sized enemies will hold the storm king down while a ritual takes place to transfer his power to the Drow.
I'm just curious if anyone has suggestions for how the ritual should take place. I'm thinking like it will take several rounds or something which will be like a ticking clock.
How I would run it is the Storm King's neck, arms, legs are held down by multiple chains and the ritual has already been completed. Your drow villain is SUPER powered (Ultra Instinct Kaioken x4). I would make it so that each chain broken, lowers down your Drow's power. This is sort of the reverse of what you have above and also the reverse of a ticking clock lol. Really either way is fine, and whatever works for your campaign and your players, you should definitely do. Just throwing out this second option!
