As a DM, do you insist on a specific way that your players act out their characters?
By that, I mean do you ask them to speak in the fist person? To act out their character's speech, as if the character themselves were speaking.
Or do you not have a preference and allow players to act in any way they want? (Perhaps some just verbally describing their character's dialogue and others actually delivering speech in real-time).
I have a real preference for players speaking for real. It has a much greater 'immediacy' and also carries with it, a greater sense of importance. (Once something has been said, it's done. Other characters/NPC's can immediately react to those words and they can't be taken back!).
Anyway, I just wondered what you other lovely DM's did. What you allowed and what you preferred.
I have players of varying comfort levels when it comes to roleplaying their characters. Some really get into it, and some are third-person types. I don't have a preference so long as everyone is having a good time.

Hello all.

Thanks very much!
