I'm currently running Dragon of Icespire Peak. This is the first campaign I've ever played let alone DM'd.
We're coming to the end of this campaign and I want to continue with my own adapted version of the follow-up trilogy starting with Storm Lord's Wrath. For those that don't know it puts the town of Lelion in the crossfire of cults from Talos and Mrykul.
My aim is to make the story intertwine with the PCs back stories. In particular the Vengeance Paladin of Tyr, who wants revenge on his old Lord who it will turn out is a follower of Bane.
Therefore my aim is to swap Mrykul with Bane. I've done a lot of research on Bane but what I'm struggling with is what monsters and minions to use. In the source Mrykul followers have a lot of undead, but I'm not sure this suits Bane so if anyone had ideas for a range of CR that would be very helpful.
@Joelthewalrus a unbreakable fanatic is a neat idea. The first encounter is at an inn, which is actually a hideout to Talos supporters. They'd happily take the role of innocents attacked by evil cultists to hide the truth.
@Naresa some hobgoblins could be passed off as bandits attacking an innocent inn. Especially by a hidden Talos supporter wanting to elay any suspicion.
Thanks to the both of you!

If you have Baldur's Gate, there is an entire dungeon dedicated to Myrkul and Bane in the first chapter.
Most of the Bane cultists are heavily armed humans, mostly fighters with some clerics in between.
Sadly do not have Baldur's Gate.
Thanks though I'll have a look into it to see if I can glean some ideas.
I could do with some non intelligent foes. First fight I don't want to give the opportunity for capture and interrogation.
A cultist might not break under interrogation. They could be a mindless fanatic, or just so devoted they would die before giving information.
A fool pulls the leaves. A brute chops the trunk. A sage digs the roots.

Bane is also a lot about tyranny and oppression... enslaved Goblinoids might make some good, mindless goons.
