Please review this subclass I created and clarify if any abilities are overpowered. I want to make sure this is balanced. (and also grammatically correct).
If you have any suggestions I would be delighted to listen to them.
Monks that follow the Way of the Ninja are a class that fights in darkness. This lives in hidden villages in places almost inaccessible to normal people. They train in the dark ninja arts and when they reach a certain level they leave their community to hone their ninja arts called Jutsu. Jutsu are separated into three groups, taijutsu, genjutsu, and ninjutsu.
Taijutsu (meaning: Body Techniques) is a basic form of techniques and refers to any techniques involving the martial arts or the optimization of natural human abilities. Taijutsu is executed by directly accessing the user's physical and mental energies, relying on the stamina and dexterity or strength gained through training. It typically does not require Ki, though ki may be used to enhance its techniques.
Genjutsu (meaning: Illusionary Techniques) is one of the main jutsu categories which uses Ki. Unlike ninjutsu, the effects of genjutsu are not real, being only sensory illusions experienced by those who fall victim to it. A genjutsu is created when a ninja controls the Ki flow of a target's cerebral nervous system, thereby affecting their five senses; this is frequently used to create false images and/or trick the body into believing its has experienced physical pain.
Ninjutsu (meaning: Ninja Techniques) implies performing a supernatural or beyond normal ability, such as causing insidious effects through ki during your Taijutsu attacks, creating shadowy weapons like the Shurikenjutsu or making Kage Bunshin no Jutsu almost real.
Way of Genjutsu
At 3rd level, you gain the ability to perform the Genjutsu spells. By the ki power controlled by a complex system of hand seals, the ninja is able to manifest the desired technique.
In order to learn how to use the Genjutsu, the ninja invented a technique to accumulate ki power in a seal on their forehead. This seal is called Infūin and is shaped like a symbol that represents their clan or village (choose the symbol).
Spell save DC = 8 + your proficiency bonus + your Wisdom modifier
When you choose this tradition at 3rd level, your special martial arts training leads to be like a shadow, to master the use of insidious unarmed attacks and the use of the ninja weapons.
You gain proficiency in the stealth skill. If you are already proficient in the skill, you add double your proficiency bonus to checks you make with it. Shuriken (dart) and Kunai (dagger) are now ranged monk weapons for you.
Whenever you use the flurry of blow, and you hit a creature, you can manipulate your enemy’s ki when you harness your own, and impose one of the follow effects on that target:It must make an intelligence saving throw. If its fails, it has disadvantaged the next saving throw it makes before the end of its next turn.
It must make an intelligence saving throw. If its fails, it subtracts one of your martial art die from the next saving throw it makes before the end of your next turn
It must make a Charisma saving throw. If its fails, it subtracts one of your martial art die from the next attack roll it makes before the end of its next turn.
Its movement speed is reduced by 10 feet until the end of its next turn.
It can’t take reactions until the start of its next turn.
Only one effect can be used per enemy.
Kuchiyose no Jutsu
At 6th level, you gain the ability to summoning shuriken (dart) or kunai (dagger) from the shadow.
This shadow weapons count as ranged monk weapon, and like your unarmed strikes they count as magical for the purpose of overcoming resistance and immunity to nonmagical attacks and damage. If you drop the weapon or throw it, it dissipates at the end of the turn. Thereafter, the weapons automatically reappear in the ninja's hands at the beginning of the next turn.
You can summon a familiar that have signed a contract with you. You learn the [Find familiar] spell and can cast it as a ritual. Your familiar has the ability to use Gen-Jutsu [minor illusion] with your same mastery.
Flurry of black Stars
At 11th level, your skill with the shadow weapons improves to such an extent that :
You can use the shadow weapons instead of your unarmed attacks and this with your flurry of blows as well.
On your turn, when you score a critical hit or reduce a creature to 0 hit points, you can use your reaction to regain 1 ki points.
In addition, when you attack a target that is in dim light or darkness, you can make advantage attacks with your Flurry of blow or flurry of black stars.
Infūin: Kai
At 17th level, your understanding of Infūin is enhanced to the point that you can release some of the sigil's energy to empower yourself for a limited time. As a bonus action, you can release some of the sigil's energy to assume a shadow form, which grants you the following benefits:
The shadow weapons in this form are more powerful, now when you hit you can add 2d4 psychic damage, and when you attack a target that is in dim light or darkness, you make the attack roll with advantage.
You can choose to use your stunning strike as a Genjutsu, the target must succeed on a Wisdom saving throw or being trapped in your Genjutsu until the end of your next turn.
You can move through other creatures and objects as if they were difficult terrain. You take 1d10 force damage if you end your turn inside an object.
When you activate this form, and you are using the Kage Bunshin no Jutsu [Mislead] senses, your clone overcomes the concept of illusion. Thanks to your ability to summoning weapons from the shadow, you can now do this with your clone, giving it an almost tangible body. The clone has a quarter of the life of the original body, if it takes more of this damage it disappears, it can carry a maximum of 10 pounds (4.5 kg), and it can use the shadow weapons and attack like the original body. Perfect for suicide missions. Remember, while you are using the clone senses, your real body is blinded and deafened in regard to your own surroundings.
This benefit lasts for 1 minute. You cannot use it again until you complete a long rest.
Ki Focus Crystal
Wondrous Item, Uncommon/Rare/Very Rare
Embedded in a ring, bracelet, or similar item, this small gem seems to have minimal value to the casual observer, but has perfect Ki resonance.
While carried by a Way of the Ninja, that monk can use this crystal to focus a stronger attacks, adding +1/+2/+3 (based on rarity) to attack and damage rolls with the shadow weapons, unarmed attacks or Genjutsu art.
Hey a couple things, and a couple grammar things I caught.
Shadow Weapons - will they appear and scale like Soulblades on the character sheet?
Familiar:
You can summon a familiar that have= has
Overall I question this for the build? Is it necessary, is it Ninja like (i guess in some anime ways yes, but that is a stretch)?
Flurry of black Stars - good and fun imo
At 11th level, your skill with the shadow weapons improves to such an extent that : - redo grammar if you want here, ending with "that" is awkward...
You can use the shadow weapons instead of your unarmed attacks and this with your flurry of blows as well. - I would put this as part of the 6th level...11th is way to late for this, plus in theory you should be able to do this right from the start...maybe at this level open up flurry of blows to it and level 6 is the main attacks etc...
On your turn, when you score a critical hit or reduce a creature to 0 hit points, you can use your reaction to regain 1 ki points - EXCELLENTA, you will need this for your magic costs
In addition, when you attack a target that is in dim light or darkness, you can makeyour again advantage attacks with your Flurry of Blow or Flurry of Black Stars. - maybe limit this to your shadow weapons only, not your regular monk attacks
Infūin: Kai
love it...not to Op as it is level 17, I think this would make for awesome roleplaying...to bad it does not come on in a lesser form at level 11...think Echo Knight.
Ki Focus Crystal
Need guidance here, how do you get these...granted...found...gifted???

First, thank you for your help. Without your corrections, I would never have discovered all these grammatical errors.
Shadow weapons:
Like soul knife or shadow blade, these are weapons created by energy, which vanishes after they hit or miss the target and rematerialize in the ninja's hands the next turn.
You can say that it is like a bow that does not need arrows because it materializes them when you put tension on the string.
Familiar:
The familiar is a minor version of the clone. These are elements that the ninja can use to spy on and search for information. Another version would be the evocation of an arcane eye, but the familiar seemed more fun to me, especially if it has a personal character, like kind of listless or spiteful. Since the familiar can't attack, I thought I'd give him the ability to use minor illusion to wreak havoc on the fight, but what you said about a minor version of the clone got me thinking. Instead of a minor illusion, I am thinking of modifying it with magic hand and Disguise Self, but only with the likeness of the ninja (magic hand to mimic a handshake).
Flurry of Black Stars:
<<You can use the shadow weapons instead of your unarmed attacks and this with your flurry of blows as well.>>
I didn't put this ability on level 6 because I don't want the player to abuse with the sharpshooter feat. Four ranged attacks with the sharpshooter bonus for a level 6... it wouldn't be balanced.
I prefer there to be character growth.
Probably from level 3 - 6 the personage will prefer to use a quarterstaff or a Katana. At low level the shuriken damage is too low to be interesting.
Nothing prevents the player from throwing shuriken with his bonus action, but that means he not add the Dex modifier at the damage, if he doesn't have Two Weapon Fighting style... I think.
<<In addition, when you attack a target that is in dim light or darkness, you gain advantage attacks with Flurry of Black Stars.>> is that correct?
Infūin: Kai:
I'm glad you appreciate the concept. Echo knight might have good synergy...
Ki Focus Crystal:
It can be something you purchase in your ninja village through a trial, a mission, or something you find in the corpse of a monk that contains ki energy or a natural stone that through a natural process has accumulated ki energy for hundreds of years.
I didn't really thought too much. It is just a tip for the master to how upgrade the ninja's weapons.
I didn't put this ability on level 6 because I don't want the player to abuse with the sharpshooter feat. Four ranged attacks with the sharpshooter bonus for a level 6... it wouldn't be balanced.
I prefer there to be character growth.
My only points here are:
I would not dumb subclass because of feat exploits, make it stand on its own.
Most games take place from 1-13...so the 1st few level features should make the subclass, then the higher levels add to it...and the goal is to make someone not want to multiclass etc. This is why certain subclasses never get played or get rated so low on youtube.
The growth could be limitations at lower levels, then scale later. Soulblade is a great example of this. It gets its subclass features right away, then everything that opens up is useful and worth leveling for. That is one way to look at what you do each level...would the player be itching hard to level up to get the next ability etc.
My only other comment is possibly looking at how echo knight levels its shadow. Instead of giving a familiar, which I do not think fits your concept; how about giving your Infuin: Ka earlier like echo knight does. It grants some of the basic things you typed above you want the familiar to do and each subclass level grants some basic synergies...until you get the killer level 17 capstone.
For the Ki Focus Crystal, I would give some some guidance, it just seems like a random thing at the bottom of the subclass (to me at least)...as sort of..."huh what dis for"?
I agree that Find Familiar is also misplaced: I don't see how it fits into a ninja concept at all. Instead, could you not detach your shadow and send it off to gather information for you? You could base some of the mechanics around the familiar rules. I would make this a non-combat creature with 1 hit point. Don't give it spellcasting abilities, that is too powerful and too easy to abuse.

Yes, that is what I was mentioning as well, bring on the shadow earlier...and that is the familiar.
According to your advice, I tried to make some changes.
Tell me what you think.

Kuchiyose no Jutsu
At 6th level, you gain the ability to summoning shuriken (dart) or kunai (dagger) from the shadow and the help of a shadow clone.
This shadow weapons count as ranged monk weapon, and like your unarmed strikes they count as magical for the purpose of overcoming resistance and immunity to nonmagical attacks and damage. When you use your bonus attack or your flurry of blow, you can use the shadow weapons or your flurry of black stars instead of your unarmed attacks.
If you drop the weapon or throw it, it dissipates at the end of the turn. Thereafter, the weapons automatically reappear in the ninja's hands at the beginning of the next turn.
You can use a bonus action to magically manifest a Kage Bunshin no Jutsu in an unoccupied space in dim light or darkness, you can see within 60 feet of you. The Kage Bunshin no Jutsu is shadow clone of the ninja that lasts until it is destroyed, until you dismiss it as a bonus action, until you manifest another shadow, or until you're incapacitated.
Your shadow has AC 14 + your proficiency bonus, 1 hit point. If it has to make a saving throw, it uses your saving throw bonus for the roll. It is the same size as you, and it occupies its space. On your turn, you can mentally command the shadow to move up to your speed in any direction (no action required).
You can temporarily transfer your consciousness to your shadow. As an action, you can see through your shadow's eyes and hear through its ears. During this time, you are deafened and blinded. You can end it at any time (requires no action).
The shadow characteristics are: Senses Darkvision 60 Feet Amorphous. The shadow can move through a space as narrow as 1 inch wide without squeezing. Shadow Stealth. While in dim light or darkness, the shadow can take the Hide action as a bonus action. Its stealth bonus is also improved to +6. Sunlight Weakness. While in sunlight, the shadow has disadvantage on attack rolls, ability checks, and saving throws.
Flurry of Shadow
At 11th level, your control of the shadow power improved:
As a bonus action, you can teleport, magically swapping places with your Kage Bunshin no Jutsu at a cost of 15 feet of your movement, but only if the distance between the two of you is no more than 60 feet.
When you take the Attack action on your turn, any attack you make with that action can originate from your space or the shadow's space, but only if the distance between the two of you is no more than your normal speed. You make this choice for each attack.
When a creature that you can see within 5 feet of your shadow moves at least 5 feet away from it, you can use your reaction to make an opportunity attack against that creature as if you were in the shadow's space.
In addition, when you attack a target that is in dim light or darkness, you gain advantage attacks with your Flurry of Black Stars.
You can choose to use your stunning strike as a Genjutsu, the target must succeed on a Wisdom saving throw or being trapped in your Genjutsu until the end of your next turn.
Shadow body
At 17th level, your understanding of the shadow element is enhanced to the point that you feel one with the darkness, which grants you the following benefits:
When you hit with your shadow weapons and when you attack a target that is in dim light or darkness you can add 2d4 psychic damage.

I would have to read it over a few times to find something to nitpick, but it would really be just that, a nitpick. I would say the the only drawback to this subclass is it has a lot of options now; some skills may not get used...but that is a great problem to have imo.
I really like what you have done with the Shadow, it synergizes well. I am not playing a campaign right now, but if I was starting a new one...I would try this forsure.
You are actually right, there are too many options.
I should delete some elements, some suggestion?

I think this comes down to the badly made Monk chassis to begin with. I had this same problem with my Psi-Ki monk I am working on. I think with a monk you have to just go with the fact you will have lots of abilities that will not get used much...but, if you think about it, that is like spell casters, most spells do not get used.
I think what the Monk already gets when you open up the magic and Taijutsu and Bukijutsu, that may be too much.
Taijutsu and Bukijutsu
When you choose this tradition at 3rd level, your special martial arts training leads to be like a shadow, to master the use of insidious unarmed attacks and the use of the ninja weapons.
You gain proficiency in the stealth skill. If you are already proficient in the skill, you add double your proficiency bonus to checks you make with it. Shuriken (dart) and Kunai (dagger) are now ranged monk weapons for you. I would think about taking out the double proficiency here, as you are already going to have a crazy modifier for this stuff just by being a Monk.
Here, if you think about what you can already do, FOB, SOTW and PD...and later Stunning Blow...the below is a lot, and almost enough to make a Martial Die subclass like the Fighter. Think about your level here. I had the same problem with my Psi-Ki Monk, so I ended up only giving one addition, which I did scale in later levels. For instance, I saved all my Psi-Ki weapon stuff I originally put in my build, to be added for a variant that will focus on pisconic weapons.
But...there is nothing wrong with options, especially if you can only use one at a time etc...so maybe just level scale some of them?
It must make an intelligence saving throw. If its fails, it subtracts one of your martial art die from the next saving throw it makes before the end of your next turn
It must make a Charisma saving throw. If its fails, it subtracts one of your martial art die from the next attack roll it makes before the end of its next turn.
Its movement speed is reduced by 10 feet until the end of its next turn.
It can’t take reactions until the start of its next turn.
I have lightened the taijutsu skill, making it an evasive maneuver like that of the drunken master, but I'm thinking of eliminating some spells from the list. I was thinking about eliminating Disguise Self and Darkvision, but Dark vision can be very useful if the character is human, and if elf very useless....
Genjutsu
At 3rd level, you gain the ability to perform the Genjutsu spells. By the ki power controlled by a complex system of hand seals, the ninja is able to manifest the desired technique, without providing material components.
Spell save DC = 8 + your proficiency bonus + your Wisdom modifier
When you choose this tradition at 3rd level, your martial arts and your ki are strongly influenced by your practices in the art of Genjutsu. Whenever you use Flurry of Blows, you gain the benefit of the Disengage action, and your walking speed increases by 10 feet until the end of the current turn.
Your ninja training teaches you to use shuriken (dart) in a precise and insidious way. Now shurikens are ranged monk weapons for you.
Thanks so much for your help. There are probably still a lot of improvements that can still be done, but the important part seems to be mapped out ... If you have other tips, go wild!

In this form you can use the shadow weapons, the Genjutsu art and attack like the original body. Once you use this feature, you can't do so again until you finish a long rest.
Shadow clone trait: Only when you use the Shadow Clone possession

Taijutsu and Bukijutsu
When you choose this tradition at 3rd level, your special martial arts training leads to be like a shadow, to master the use of insidious unarmed attacks and the use of the ninja weapons.
You gain proficiency in the stealth skill. If you are already proficient in the skill, you add double your proficiency bonus to checks you make with it. Shuriken (dart) and Kunai (dagger) are now ranged monk weapons for you.
Infūin: Kai
At 17th level, your understanding of Infūin is enhanced to the point that you can release some of the sigil's energy to empower yourself for a limited time. As a bonus action, you can release some of the sigil's energy to assume a shadow form, which grants you the following benefits:
Familiar:
have= hasFlurry of black Stars - good and fun imo
At 11th level, your skill with the shadow weapons improves
to such an extent that: - redo grammar if you want here, ending with "that" is awkward...you can makeyour again advantageattackswithyourFlurry of Blow or Flurry of Black Stars. - maybe limit this to your shadow weapons only, not your regular monk attacksInfūin: Kai
love it...not to Op as it is level 17, I think this would make for awesome roleplaying...to bad it does not come on in a lesser form at level 11...think Echo Knight.
Ki Focus Crystal
Need guidance here, how do you get these...granted...found...gifted???
I don't think that either Fear or Phantasmal Killer are class relevant.

While carried by a Way of the Ninja, that monk can use this crystal to focus a stronger attack, adding +1/+2/+3 (based on rarity) to attack and damage rolls with the shadow weapons, unarmed attacks or Genjutsu art.
Well done imo.
I still made some minor changes.

Losing darkvision would not affect much at all, in fact maybe better from a roleplay perspective.
Thanks so much for your help.
There are probably still a lot of improvements that can still be done, but the important part seems to be mapped out ...
If you have other tips, go wild!
