I am trying to create a Khopesh that is usable by monks. My idea is to us the base of Quarterstaff and just change the damage type to Slashing. I was wondering how do I do that? I can change the name but not the damage type. Any help is appreciated.
I assume I put this in the notes area of the items. is it supposed to change the stat block for the item because its not, or am I doing something wrong?

No, you don’t put it into the “notes” for the item on the character sheet, you must create it in the homebrewer as a “magic item. (We cannot currently create basic equipment on DDB.)

I personally use a scimitar for a smaller Khopesh, and a longsword for a larger one. To make it useable by a monk simply add the following:
They can mark it as their dedicated weapon to make it a Monk Weapon for themselves.
You could also start with a handaxe (since it is a Monk weapon) and add the following:
A Khopesh is the most axe-like sword anyway (other than that stupid sword with an actual axe head on it), so it would fit.
I hope that helps.
