So I was trying to make a new subclass for ranger and it was going to be loosely based off of arcane trickster (in the sense that it was going to be a half caster class but used the druid spell list instead of the wizard one). I also was going to be adjusting the other abilities to fit the theme of the new subclass but wasnt going to put that work in until I was able to adjust the spell list.
I thought by starting with the arcane trickster as a sub class adjust everything to be druid instead of wizard, etc... but its not functioning correctly at all... is there not just a way to swap the one list for another (especially because from what I can see of the copy of the arcane trickster I don't see any place where it summoned the wizard list to begin with).
At this point I should just start finding your posts and clicking on links *smacks head*.
It's funny that the reason why it wasn't working was I didn't leave the boxes blank, and one of them specifically sounds like you should put something in the box due to the snippet from their own tool tip. Thanks again

I fully explained how to add Spellcasting to non-caster classes in the following thread: (https://www.dndbeyond.com/forums/dungeons-dragons-discussion/homebrew-house-rules/119032-how-to-add-spellcasting-to-subclasses-for). Follow the instructions there but select Druid for step 2-C (instead of Sorcerer like I used in my example photo).
PS- The Arcane trickster is not a ½ Caster, it is a ⅓ Caster. (Paladins and Rangers are ½ Casters.)

As usual, happy to help. 🤗
Here, this link has the most of my tips all in one place: (https://www.dndbeyond.com/forums/dungeons-dragons-discussion/homebrew-house-rules/131411-a-homebrewers-how-to-faq). If it isn’t in there, then post again and I’ll be along sooner or later. 😉

Huh. I had a similar idea about adding illusion magic to a ranger. Called the subclass an 'Elusive'.
Shouldn't that be Illusive?
