I am trying to create a home brew feat for my campaign. I found one in homebrew content from someone I would like to use as a template, copying into my collection end then editing/customizing for use in my campaign. Frankly, I am attempting to learn how they did it and would like to look at it so that I can create something similar.
I have been unsuccessful in creating a Boon of Magic Resistance feat and having the snippet appear correctly in my character sheet’s Saving Throw box. There are Feats in Homebrew content that do exactly that. How do the do it?
All it does is make a note on the character sheet in the Saving Throws box with the Advantage symbol. It won’t automatically roll with advantage because it doesn’t know when to apply it and when not to. It’s just there as a reminder to the player to apply it whenever appropriate.
I'm trying to make a racial feat for a homebrew race/species but it's not appearing up to select it. Its only giving me the official race/species options. What should I do?
All you can do is list the race as the prerequisite description and leave the actual mechanical part blank. It’ll throw an error when you save, but it’ll save anyway. It won’t restrict it mechanically, but it will list it in the feat to remind players.

You cannot use another person’s homebrew as a template. In order to make magic resistance work you need the following modifier:
Modifier: Advantage->Subtype: Saving Throws->Details: “against spells and other magical effects.”
That is how the working ones do it. After you add the modifier you have to re-save the whole feat, please see the General Homebrew FAQ #s 6 & 6-B for andditional information to get it to populate your character sheet: (https://www.dndbeyond.com/forums/dungeons-dragons-discussion/homebrew-house-rules/131411-a-homebrewers-how-to-faq).
