Is Dragon blood usable? A character has a vial of red dragon blood and want to make some potion out of it.
I googled it and searched around not really finding anything, does anyone know of anything that's done with it or is it just blood and only in lore to make blood oozes?
There's nothing mechanically, but ask your DM (or if you're the DM, homebrew something).
I'd suggest looking at what type of dragon the blood is from. Maybe a black dragon's blood is corrosive, and could work as a high-level Acid Splash? A green dragon's blood might produce a noxious gas when boiled? Or a red dragon's blood could be incredibly flammable?
As described in the Forgotten Realms wiki, dragon meat is considered a delicacy, so maybe dragonblood black pudding (no, not the ooze) is highly sought after?
Edit: just realised you specified it's a red dragon. Still, my point stands. Maybe it could work as lamp oil, or it could be an incredibly spicy condiment?
off the top of my head those ar epossible options.
In my game in development, a 1/4 cup of dragon's blood sells for 150 gp. Which is a LOT given that the main coin in my games is the Sp (and there is a Bit, which is 1/8th a copper, because 2 bits, 4 bits, 6 bits...). Risk is commensurate with reward.

Magic is a mysterious force, and is not limited by the same constraints as science.
I would view it that they could feasibly use it to produce most anything, to varying degrees of success. what would be important is their research into how to gain it.
For example: If they want to try and gain the strength of a dragon, they might find the relevant magics and rituals needed to create a belt of dragon strength. Or, it might be concluded that the greatest strength of a dragon is in its ability to fly, or cause fear, and so on - they may not get exactly what they wanted. Such are the ways of magic.
So if you have a potion you want to make out of it, ask the DM. If you're the DM and you want them to make a potion out of it, then put an NPC in their path who talks about how dragon blood can be used to make dragon-potion.

Considering how vague the crafting rules are for this edition, it could be used for myriad things from potions to making magic items.

It could even be used in the curing of the leather for boots of the winterlands, or heat treating a flametongue weapon.
