So, when viewing a online character sheet, you can add proficiency (with weapons, tools, armors, and languages) to a character. This gives the game a new depth, because your character can train with a weapon(details included in BR[I think], PH, and XGTE). But how do I add proficiency with a homebrew item? CAN I do it?
For example, I have homebrewed up some armor. It's meant for one of my characters, Xythar Bronzewing. So obviously I want to give him proficiency with it. How do I do this?

I have succesfully wasted your time!😀
Commanding nothing less than the power to create life, many battle smiths turn their genius toward forging technologically remarkable puppies and kitties.
You can't have proficiency in a single type of armor. It just doesn't work like that. You have to have proficiency in the type (light, medium, heavy, or shield) of armor.

Look at what you've done. You spoiled it. You have nobody to blame but yourself. Go sit and think about your actions.
Don't be mean. Rudeness is a vicious cycle, and it has to stop somewhere. Exceptions for things that are funny. Go to the current Competition of the Finest 'Brews! It's a cool place where cool people make cool things.

No, you cannot grant proficiency with homebrewed equipment because we cannot create homebrewed equipment, only homebrewed magic items, and those have to be based off of preexisting equipment.

Maybe I’ve underestimated them.
