So there is this magic item called the ring of mind shielding that looks pretty interesting but before I add it into a game I wanted to get some peoples inputs about it.
So the ring prevents people from magically reading your thoughts, detecting if your lying, or determining your alignment or creature type. Also if you die while wearing it your soul will retreat into the ring and can telepathically communicate with anybody who puts it on unless there is already a soul inside of it. My question is two-fold.
what spells (or abilities) specifically would the ring stop. Obviously there is detect thoughts, and detect good and evil but what else?
would having your soul in the ring increase the time limit on Resurrection spells?
My personal thought on this is yes because your soul hasn't left for the afterlife, it is still right there and is perfectly capable of interacting with the world. All you would need to do is fix up the body add a little mumbo jumbo and poof bobs your uncle, your alive again.

So what do you guys think?
Paladin's Divine Sense, Ranger's Primeval Awareness, and the triggers for spells like Glyph of Warding or Symbol.
It doesn't matter if your soul is in the ring. You're still dead, and that's all those spells care about.
