I am trying to homebrew a Shark Totem Barbarian for my home game, because it features Pirates and lots of Water. Unfortunately, I have been running into a problem: I cannot figure out how to make an ability grant a character a swim speed equal to their walking speed with the "Create Modifier" options.
I was just wondering if it was possible, mostly because it seems a bit silly that halfings can swim faster than they could run with such an ability. Thank you for the help regardless!
Hey, I ended up finding this thread after doing some googling because I was trying to do the same thing. I figured it out, and thought I'd come back and share it with you, on the off chance you can still use it.
Click on the arrow for "Modifier Type" and select the "Set" option. Then, under "Modifier Subtype", select "Innate Speed (Swimming)". Leave everything else blank, and the swimming speed will be equal to walking speed. Hope it helps!

Hi everyone!
I am trying to homebrew a Shark Totem Barbarian for my home game, because it features Pirates and lots of Water. Unfortunately, I have been running into a problem: I cannot figure out how to make an ability grant a character a swim speed equal to their walking speed with the "Create Modifier" options.
Does anyone know how to make this work?
Rather than try to set a swim speed equal to their walk speed, try granting a swim speed of a base amount (say 30').
Most items/features that grant additional movement, will grant additional movement speed to all valid movement types.

"We got this, no problem! I'll take the twenty on the left - you guys handle the one on the right!"🔊
I suppose I could do that.
