Okay. I've scaled this thing back a bit and tried to have it make more "sense" in game terms. I've run the race through character creation and everything is working, mechanically, as far as I can see.
Regarding the "Grant a Wish" trait: The "wish" spell is a classic and powerful part of fairy mythology. In an earlier post it was mentioned this should be limited to the ArchFey. I disagree. I believe the ArchFey would have the power to grant as many wishes as they like - and are quite deadly as a result. This poor little fairy can only grant one, and then they die, permanently. This little fairy doesn't get that ability until it reaches level 18, which is later than a wizard gets the spell. That, and the fact that the player WILL die if they use this ability - with no chance of rez - I think that limits it and gives the player and group a wonderful opportunity for roleplay and storytelling. The "wish" ability stays for those reasons.
Take a look and let me know what you think. Try rolling up a character - and if you find a bug - let me know.
Re: "Player will role up another fairy." I believe a good DM should be able to rein in behavior that is detrimental to the game - and if a player chooses this race - the DM and player should work together. As a DM - I've had players who wanted a new character every other week - and - as much as I liked the person - they aren't in my game anymore. These players exist - and you have to figure out how to handle the situation.
All the spell based abilities need to state their spellcasting ability (i.e. charisma).
Fairy ring may want to say "you may cast without the material component"
Change appearance should list the physical properties of the tiny form. And stealth is used to avoid being seen, deception would be used to convince the observer you are something else.
I'm working on designing a playable "Fairy" race. This is my first stab at it and it's a little rough - but I'd love your feedback/suggestions on this.
Thank you,

I've been having a hard time doing the same thing because my wife will NOT play unless she can be a fairy. After searching high and low (and coming across your homebrew along with many, MANY others {do a quick homebrew search for fairy, fae, pixie etc}) I actually found the official D&D published playable Fey in "Heroes of the Feywild". They have 3 Fey races with Pixie being the Fairy.
I've decided that since DDB doesn't have the official one, I'm going to use the "official" Pixie as the basis and incorporate elements from yours and a couple others to create the perfect character for my wife.
I just wanted to let you know that it was out there and thank you for the work you did on your homebrew.
DDB doesn't have heroes of the feywild because it is 4th edition. DDB is on 5th edition. It's abilities probably won't fit with the 5e rules perfectly, but it can be adjusted.
Just remember that if you copy someone else's work, you aren't supposed to publish it.
Also, this thread is over a year old, can we stop necro'ing it please?

I don't see where I asked about DDB incorporating Heroes of the Feywild or why it wasn't available. I simply stated that it wasn't.

Its, not it's (it's is the contraction of it is/has). "Probably won't fit" why? Have you researched the character and found a possible conflict? Probably not. If it needs adjusted, one would only have to follow this official guide to do so. Also, I said I was going to use it as the base and modify it using parts of his and others meaning I am aware that it might not and have plans to do so. It's like you didn't even read or comprehend what I wrote.

I can't publish plagiarized work? Who knew? (Insert eye roll emoji here)

It doesn't matter if the post is 10 years old if the information provided still applies, which it does. You simply decided to jump in and add...... hmmm, what DID you add?
And before you get your loincloth in a bunch and run to the mods/admins, you could have not said anything and let my post go as you added nothing to it, but you didn't. Now I see how you got over 7k posts in a year and a half.
Thanks for posting this - I've really enjoyed reading through what you have created! I'm getting back into D&D after a multi-decade break, and I've really enjoyed the changes. For my first character back, I decided to make it easy on myself and went with a Dwarf Fighter (which has been fun!), but based on some stupidity, we almost all died (our DM said we were one roll away from all being killed, and needing new characters). If that happens, I'm seriously interested in this; I'm not sure if my DM will allow it, but it looks fun!
