So, I was going along one day, and I thought "Grim Harvest is an awful ability". So I decided to change it a little.
Grim Harvest
At 2nd level, you gain the ability to reap life energy from creatures you harm with your spells. Once per turn when a creature fails a saving throw against a spell you cast of 1st level or higher, you can choose to deal necrotic damage to the creature. The necrotic damage equals your Intelligence modifier, and you gain temporary hit points equal to half the damage dealt with this feature.
I was also thinking that the wizards should be absolute masters of their school, so for all of the PHB Arcane Traditions, change their Savant features to the following:
(School) Savant
Beginning when you select this school at 2nd level, you may copy any (School) spell into your spellbook, even if it is not on the Wizard spell list. The spells count as wizard spells nonetheless. The gold and time you must spend to copy spell not on the wizard spell list is doubled.
So...Yeah! Tell me your opinions on these, and what you would do.

The grim harvest one isnt too bad. I feel like it losses something in cool points though.
The savant one (first of all) needs rewording. At first glance it looks like the opposite of the original savant, making wizards actually weaker (or at least poorer) at focusing on their chosen school. Then I realized you meant that wizards should be able to copy non-wizard spells...
No. No, no, nope, nada, never, nuh-uh. The reason is 1 school in particular: Evocation. Not only is evocation the school of all the best combat spells, it is the school of most of the healing spells. Abjuration, conjuration, and transmutation wizards would get healing too. Necromancers would get nearly all the resurrection spells, except the one that transmuters get.
And the original savant feature is supposed to be a convenience feature, not a wow feature.
Hmm, maybe I should add something like "You cannot learn spells that restore hit points or bring creatures back from the dead." So it doesn't step onto the cleric's turf? (I honestly just want Necromancy to get Inflict Wounds and some of the cool Warlock spells.)
As for the Grim Harvest one, I was also thinking of changing it into some kind of crow familiar that can curse things, or maybe a crawling claw familiar that can attack. I'll think about this for a bit.
