As the title says I'm trying to create a weapon with a +3 to hit and a 0 to damage bonus. Is there a way to do this in dndbeyond? I have created homebrew items before but if there is a way to do this it is eluding me. Thanks in advance for any help!
So I duplicated the wand of the war mage by giving it a bonus to melee attacks and that didn't seem to work sadly there is no visual indication of the higher attack score when the item is equipped. I do realize I could edit it on the character sheet but I'm trying to avoid that if possible.
Ok so the way wand of the war mage (and bonus to spell attack, melee attack, ranged attack, etc.) works is that it gives you a bonus for ALL weapons/spells etc. not just the one with the modifier. Could theoretically work if they are only going to use that one weapon but in reality it is a logistical problem. It seems there is no homebrew item modifier that works the same as setting the to hit or damage modifiers on an item in your inventory.
If you equip a second weapon you will see that bonus applies to ALL melee weapons equipped on a character not just that one weapon. I thought that would work too :-/
Ah, I see that now. I suspect this to be an oversight or they were expecting people to only equip one weapon at a time which effectively negates the issue but causes a second problem considering how most people like having all of their equippable weapons visible in the Actions tab at the same time.

There are wands and other magic items that give a bonus to spell attacks but not damage, so I don't see why not.

If you can't find a way to do it when creating a weapon, on your character sheet you can click on the weapon in the equipment tab.
The weapon should pop up on the right side, hit "customize" and from there you can edit hit bonus and damage bonus separately.

Small addendum I did request this be added in the What additional modifiers would you like to see available in homebrew? thread since it looks like it is not currently possible but if I'm missing something I'd be glad to know!
I think I figured it out.
Note I don't make many items on this site so I'm still looking to make sure everything works right.
Korbin,
