My DM and I are working on a homebrew weapon, and have hit a spot where we're kind of stuck on whether we can implement what we want to do, using the homebrew item creator here on Beyond.
The weapon is intended for the wielder to be able to choose either the normal base weapon type damage (bludgeoning), or one of several different elements (cold, fire, lightning). Note that this isn't elemental damage added to the regular damage, but replacing the normal damage, using the weapon's damage die, with the chosen element.
Is it possible to implement this in any way in the homebrew item tool? I tried messing around with adding the "Replace Damage Type" modifier, but it only applied the one damage, even if I added all three elements, and no longer listed the bludgeoning damage, when viewing it on a character sheet.
You would have to create a different version of the weapon for each alternate damage type and load them all onto the character sheet. Luckily, you don’t really have to. Just put that info in as plain text and whenever the PC makes an attack they can just verbally tell the DM which damage type they want to use.

Did you ever find a solution to this ?
