I've been trying to create my first subclass and I've come along a few hitches in the road I can't get past. The one I'm currently trying to figure out is expertise with weapons. I want to double the proficiency bonus added to a weapon but best case scenario nothing happens (I'm still seeing the options and there is no red text showing me the error) and at worst case I've given the characters using this subclass expertise in all of their skills when only the weapon is selected. I've double checked that I'm not accidentally giving them expertise from somewhere else so I'm at a loss. And yes, options are selected.
Does someone know what the fix is for this and how I can give expertise to weapons?
Thanks again IamSposta. I'm now working on refining the subclass I'm researching all of this for. I think my issue is that I'm trying to bridge the gaps between D&D 5e and 3.5e. I used to play a lot of Neverwinter Nights 2 and my first written adventure is based off of 3.5e which has specialization/expertise in weapons. Do you know if there's a way to increase the damage of a weapon as a fixed amount? I can't seem to get the damage modifier to work (mod/damage -> melee weapon attacks ->fixed 2, no conditions or spaces in other slots)
It looks like you are using the corect modifier. After you added that modifier you must re-save the class feature and then also re-save the whole subclass
Hm... I might have encountered a bug in the site because saving isn't working (whenever I make a change I save inside the feature, again when the modifier closes, and then I go out to the class itself and save). I've tried double saving and I've tried to eliminate user error by making other changes to the class, saving those, then reloading my test character's sheet to make sure those changes were saved and went through.
P.S. I've browsed the site a few times for others who need help but it seems like whoever I click on has already been helped. Is there a way to filter posts that haven't been responded to yet, or posts which haven't had a moderator respond?
Not that I know of. I don’t think there’s a way to exclude threads with specific posters.
Sometimes it just takes a few minutes to update. Sometimes logging out and back in helps to push that stuff through. But the mods will be less likely to see this because of the title of the thread. And if this is in fact a bug/glitch, they might not find it in this forum at all because there’s a separate forum for bugs.
Facepalming myself so hard right now. I'll report the issue if it isn't updated throughout the day and I'll look for the bug forum.
Well, this started as a Homebrews question, so you put it in the right forum for your initial inquiry. And double check that it hasn’t already applied. Are you doing 2 more damage than you expect? Post a link to the character, make sure it’s set to publicl and I’ll look at it.

Expertise does not apply to weapons.
