"Bah, hells and damnation." Morgana mutters, quickly trying to put the papers and books back into place where they were before. She was so focused on looking for the minutia of a trapped wire or pressure plate that she wasn't paying attention to the corner of the table. "Seeing the trees and not the forest. Dumb girl."
Morgana glances over the code along with Astrid. Looking up to the other woman, Morgana speaks softly. Astrid notes that the magical goggles have slipped off her face during the scramble to put the books back together, hanging loosely around her neck. "No answers to be found today... I don't think we'll have time to piece together whatever these notes are, and unless we can copy them and burn the originals, we'll be one divining spell from the pointy end of a few blades. You see anything?"

Quendar moves across the room, stepping lightly around the broken beaker.
"I would ensure your clothing is free of any glass shards from that beaker," Quendar says. "Even a small part may be enough to activate any tracing magic."
He continues to the corner of the lab and begins looking more closely for any sign of the emerald, looking for containers that appear to have been used recently.
OOC: Starting from the left of the lib/lab map we'll say it's four quadrants: A & B = library, C & D = lab. Tell me which quadrant you're looking and how you're looking.
OOC: Please ID the quadrant you're searching and in what.
Quendar does not find the emerald with a cursory glance around the lab.

Astrid removes a circlet from beneath her cloak, and places it upon her brow, hoping it might help make sense of the encoded texts. Suppressing a groan of frustration, she starts to put it away, but then decides to just leave it on.
Still focusing her search in the library, she tries to find a tome that might be large enough to conceal the emerald inside.
”It’s the oldest trick in the book, but... hey, get it? I crack myself up.” She is seemingly speaking to herself, her tone hushed; but...

Grace moves closer to the dark elf and whispers.
"It'd be nice to have some light again," Grace says worrying a piece of her sleeve and looking still very frightened of the dark. "At least with a little light I might be able to give you all some help," she adds.

There are several tomes about necromancy. The curiosities include: a shrunken head, a withered hand clutching an eye under a glass cloche, and a large jar of moving, buzzing insects! There's nothing however he can spot that looks out of place per say but there isn't any boxes or chests in this quadrant.

Quendar's first impulse is to reach out and 'acquire' some of the books on display, and he is sorely tempted to also liberate the withered hand from under the glass dome. But, before he does , Kaz's warning replays in his ears and he withdraws his hand, empty. He doesn't need to have the Virago's thugs coming down on his head.
"Such a collection," Quendar says. "It's criminal that she keeps it all to herself."
He heads over to the next part of the library (Quadrant B) to continue looking for small boxes, chests and the like that might hold the emerald.
Moving over to Quendar as he speaks, Morgana slides one of the books of Necromancy off the shelf. "Sure... but nothing stopping us from taking a peek, right?"
Holding the book open in her hands, she quickly flips the pages through it, searching for something with intent.

As Morgana and Quendar shift their attention over to the other side of the library along with Astrid the three investigate. Quendar does find half a dozen boxes and one large chest but nothing that could house the emerald the size of a halfling's head! Astrid and Morgana browse the titles Morgana can read: Raising the Dead by Roselyn Vaine, Forbbiden Rites by Thadeus Wainwright, and Grasp of the Grave by Rifka Duval. Astrid needs to touch the volumes not in her known languages to read the spines. On the bookshelf in quad B Astrid finds on these shelves mixed in with the volumes several more journals marked with dates from, she notices, three years previously to the present year for each month.
OOC: Which volumes do Morgana and Astrid choose to pull down or look at? Morgana can read those three titles, Astrid can read the ones she touches due to the circlet. I will allow y'all to describe what the books look like eh? Ex: bound in human skin or a black leather tome that's so black it voids light etc...
Viv begins to stiff the vials on the first worktable and finds a series of acrid and acidic scents in the first rack. Moving to the second she finds a few that literally smell of death! Beside the vials is another journal open to pages. It's more a ledger with phrases at a glance in one column with numbers in the next. One worktable two she sees the glowing vials and vessels. They are all corked yet unmarked. There is also a rack in a locked case of dubious shades of black and gray that looks to be moving! Viv also sees a rack of familiar red liquid vials. She however does not see the emerald or any cases the size of the emerald. Looking on the components shelves she sees basic to advanced spell components. There are many which are expensive as well as difficult to find!
Anthix while sliding across the floor the rogue hits a hidden glyph on the floor. Antix give me a Con Save DC13 sapping sting for 12 trigging the glyph.

Quendar looks at Anthix sliding around over the floor with one eyebrow raised followed by a half smile when the glyph is triggered.
"Thank you for your sacrifice, Anthix," Quendar says quietly. "A reminder to be careful."
Taking a look around the rest of the room, he shakes his head slowly.
"We could spend days in here satisfying our idle curiosities. But, as we can't take any of this with us, and the darkness of this evening is slipping ever more quickly away, I suggest taking heed of our guide's observance and head upstairs."
First he gestures to the door nearest him (the one on the east side of Quadrant B).
"What's behind here, Grace?"
