Morgana can hear footsteps coming down the sewer behind them.

Quendar grabs hold of the rope ladder and pulls down on it, putting his weight fully against it to stop it moving and keep it steady, hoping that will help Anthix get better leverage against the grate up above.

Anthix cringes and looks down at them "sorry" he whispers looking up at the grate, he carefully wraps the rope around his legs before trying to grab the grate and start trying to shift it.

"Someone is coming! Viv, could use an illusion. Perhaps a big pile of refuse and some rat noises..." Morgana scoops up the dropped swords and looks for an alcove in the darkness the group could hide in past an illusion.

Perception 8 

Vivi nods, a sly smirk across her face as she whispers “I’ll keep it simple, hide everyone.” 

Creeping slightly back into the tunnel, she plays a silent melody on her flute, as the sound of a door clanging shut and locking comes from the smugglers stores. minor illusion

“Hopefully that might buy us some time, but we need to be really quiet and really quick getting out of here.” 

Stealth 23

Anthix fails to move the grate.

The sounds of Viv's illusion echo up the passage but Morgana fails to see a hiding place save the ruin marked smugglers stores below the grate abd rope ladder where Anthix is suspended. It's nothing but smooth brick walls of the sewer passage.

Everyone give me a stealth check with disadvantage. Quendar dancing lights still however above the party.

"Kill the lights!" Morgana hisses. She puts her back to the wall by the entrance to the room, out of sight from the passageway. She pulls a knife from her bandolier, the blade ready in her offhand and angled downward.

Quickly descends the rope ladder trying to press up against the wall and hide as best as possible.

13 (Stealth w/Disadvantage) Astrid draws a handaxe with her off-hand, just in case, and flattens herself against the seeping walls.

As Vivi presses herself at the corner of the room, looking out into the hall, her cloak shifts, with a slit appearing at the back by her neck from which she draws a longbow with her left hand, keeping her flute in her right. Juat by her right hand, a slit appears from which the feathered end of her arrows stick out.

Quendar dismisses the dancing lights with a wave of his hand, and moves to flatten himself against the wall in the shadows.

At that point he notices the runes on the entrance to the smuggler's stores and tries to see what he can make of them.

Arcana: 8  

OOC: Just need Tyril to check in.

Quendar can tell it's a rune for Abjuration more specifically alarm on the door.

Guards 20

Both Anthix hands light up purple, two clear purple spirit daggers in each hand, as he curses under his breath.

Initiative: 20

Quendar raises his eyebrows at the sight of the guards. 

“These two must be awfully dedicated or perhaps just have no sense of smell.”

Initiative: 9  

As the two patrolmen approach, Astrid sees their efforts at misdirection are wasted, and prepares to act. 15 (Initiative)

From her spot, hopefully still not seen and flanking the guardsmen as they enter the room, Morgana takes her free hand and raises a cloth mask over her nose and mouth. She silently draws her second blade.

Initiative 12

OOC Let me know if that's the truth. My intent prior to this was that she wasin a place near the door to ambush anyone who walked through. 

Vivi nods in agreement with Quendar, “It seems we have the only competent city guards in Zozobra here. It took them barely any time to see through my disguise on the grate. Keep your faces hidden, and try not to harm them.”
