Gruenic nods at Sila's suggestion, "If there is another, easier way in, perhaps we should do that. Maybe catch them and surprise them. Or we could try to hit them from here."

"Ah…Troglodytes. How can I forget." Lucy knew those creatures through the insanely expensive monster encyclopedia which her mother bought for her. The book's author was a master artificer and had great passion toward enlightening children. They used special illusion spells to describe the creature's looks, sounds …and smells with UNNECESSARY details. Lucy tried to wipe those stinks from her head for decades. But the memories survived like tough oil stains. Anyway… " Artemis found another barrier on the west of their den. There is definitely another way to get in the chamber and get rid of those vermin without wetting our shoes. I recommend heading to the stairs."
Sila draws daggers and follows the group down the stairs, but keeps watch on the Troglodyte hole behind then ready to respond by thrown blades should they emerge through it. (present location in march as last)
" Sila, I'll leave Artemis behind. You can go to support Garavant." The owl isn't happy but Lucy ignores her. The bladesinger notches an arrow to her enchanted longbow and starts to follow the half elf rogue.
Action1: Leaving Artemis to keep watch on the room with a broken barrier.
Action2: Ready Action, if someone ambushes Garavant, shoot them.
Artemis stands watch at the dismantled barrier as the party gets into a marching order and heads for the south stairway. They follow it down and to the right, picking up the noise of roaring water that gets louder as they descend.
After about 25ft of stairs they emerge into a smaller cavern than the area with the dwarf sepulchers, but not small by any measure.
The thunderous roar of falling water fills this long, low chamber, and spray makes everything slick and wet. A fast stream rushes through the center of the cavern, emerging from beneath a crude dam of rock and mud in the western wall. The stream disappears into a dark shaft at the cavern’s eastern end. A rough, winding path follows the stream toward the east.
A cursory look around reveals that to the west is a narrow corridor whose floor is dominated by a river, possibly the same one seen throughout your journey so far.
To the east, the river accelerates and disappears into a a sinkhole 10-20ft across. Just north of the sinkhole is a stairway descending into darkness.
"Should we scout to the west? I have a feeling that we want to go down, but I wonder what is that way to the west." Gruenic takes a few steps westward to the edge of the water and then looks to the west, as far as his darkvision will allow (300 ft).

" This cave is far larger than I thought. We will need Artemis. " Lucy is sunk in thought for a short time then says. " Give me a few more minutes. I'll set the Alarm spell on the stairs." The elf wizard carves elven runes on the staircase by arrowhead, and casts a ritual spell upon the staircase. When she finishes, Lucy calls her familiar back to her.
Garavant waits quietly as Artemis scouts ahead and Lucy does her magic. He fidgets a bit, knowing that they must not rush into anything dangerous, but eager to find more treasures.
Sila moves forward at Lucy's suggestion, knowing that Artemis can see much clearer and farther than she. She moves down the stairs carefully past the others but hesitates near the bottom quietly assessing the slipperiness of the cavern and whether it may be sloping downward towards the east. Is the water pulled by the gravity of the sink hole depth or is there a slope encouraging the speed of the water? She also tries to assess how difficult travel in this cavern may be, frustrated that she didn't think to bring climbing gear.
"Watch the water everyone, this cavern looks connected to the other, they likely swim." She says in a quiet alert, knowing that stealth is not beyond their ability.
"Perhaps another illusion? A trap of our own? I have the ability too and can include sound, smells and images. Just only one at a time, but they can overlap. They don't last long, but with a combined effort we could come up with something to draw them out? Or do you think we should try to stealth our way through to the stairs?" Sila remembers the success of the statue trap above, but isn't sure which is the best approach, avoidance or dispatching of them now. This cavern also presents many dangers. "Many treasures could be hidden in their lair as it seems they've been doing this for a long time."
survival check 11(this seems to come under the category of natural hazards)
Artemis swoops into the chamber as Lucy prepares her Alarm spell, banking right to head west through the narrow corridor. Gruenic is maneuvering himself to see as far down the corridor as possible, seeing that it ends in a T-junction after about 20ft.
Sila appraises the floor in this room and notes that the floor does indeed slope – both south, where it looks slick with slime, and east towards the sinkhole. The river seems to be flowing quite fast – the current is not insurmountable, but a slip or a weak grip could lead an unwary wader to get pulled away.
Artemis reports back that the northern branch of the T-junction leads to the deep pool in the foul-smelling room, while south leads into a room measuring about 20ft by 35ft. The cave is long and low, with an uneven ceiling about ten feet high. In the southern end of the room, an enormous white-scaled lizard lunges and snaps at the owl, but a sturdy chain around its neck tethers it in place. The agitated creature twists in frustration, its tail lashing.
Sila moves back to the group carefully, "This cavern has quite a slope to it and that waterflow is very strong." She says pulling out her rope. "Perhaps we should secure ourselves to one another in case of trouble? That sinkhole over there likely doesn't lead anywhere nice."
"Lucy, what can you see from Artemis?" She calls over to her as she returns, glancing back over her shoulder periodically for any activity in the water.
Gruenic perks up at the news of the scouting. Nodding, he says "I agree, this ground is slippery. If we could hold onto a knotted rope, that will help prevent one of us from sliding away. Let's cross and then go south, I want to see what is in those chests. Perhaps we can take care of that lizard and then open them up."

"That's a good idea. It won't be too long when we're done with it, but this rope's come in handy before." She says remembering another trick they did with the rope. She starts knotting the rope at regular intervals quickly. "Did Artemis say that its chained up? It might not even want to be here. Letting it go probably wouldn't be a wise option though. You suppose its their pet?"
"Yes, I think it is their pet, their trained "attack dog." We need to look for a trap or some mechanism by which it is released, otherwise you could just fill it full of arrows at a distance and then take the chests. That is too easy. We need to be cautious." Gruenic helps with the knotting of the rope and ensuring that all are supported as they cross the underground stream. "Perhaps it will be a little clearer if we get closer. I don't know that I"m the best one to lead here, we need stealth and caution. Who should sneak across and take a peek? We will be right behind."
